Tron: Ares

Flynn's disc was key, which is why CLU needed it. He did the old switcharoo to CLU at the end.

If I ask the colonel to see the major's file...and they're co-subversives in sub-security profile,
they'll do the old dossier switcheroo, and I'll chalk up a zilch.

Does everything need an explanation?
Oh OK, I forgot about the stuff with the disc.
Definitely. Plus, I actually bounced off Legacy’s visual style a bit, compared to the first film. In the original Tron, everything had that processed-animation look that — cheesily or not — felt like it took place in cyberspace. In Legacy, background CGI aside, everybody just looked like they were walking around a normally-filmed set with glowstrips stuck on them.
I think the problem with that is that the whole thing is based around computer graphics, and by the time Legacy came out computer graphics had reached a point where they could render a completely realistic looking world. It might have been interesting visually, but it would have less realistic if the Grid in Legacy looked more like what we got in the original.

Exactly. The new grid in the second movie was on a more advanced system. So computer graihics had advanced so much that it had to have a different look. I love both looks on both movies. The light cycles were sweet in legacy. It looks like they are in ares as well..

So...Jeff Bridges is Program God?

Honestly, my cautious optimism for this film has dropped considerably. Now it looks more like an empty popcorn action flick but I'll still give it a shot, if only for Gillian Anderson and Greta Lee.

At the very least it's going to have a great soundtrack and it looks pretty. I recommend edibles for this one.

Same.

This trailer is a lot better than the previous ones that have come out and now I'm a bit more keen to see what happens next. Really disappointed though that they basically wrote off Sam and Quorra

Yeah, I'm really disappointed that they aren't part of the movie. I'm hoping that they'll at least acknowledge the events of Legacy even if it isn't a direct follow up to them.

So...Jeff Bridges is Program God?
He's literally called the "Maker" in Tron: Legacy. So, the god imagery is hardly new to the series. I think it has a fascinating philosophical ideas, and Bridges studied under some Buddhism teachers as part of expanding Flynn's mystique in Legacy.

Ares has an interesting philosophical thread within it, and good potential.

But what do you think Sam and Quorra are up to now in their lives?

I think Sam is going to show her as much of the real world as he can and get her up to speed like the rest of us. I wonder if she has any abilities in the real world that we don't know.
