Things that frustrate us all

Never smoked.
Been drunk exactly twice in my life( my daughters’ births).I go for months without alcohol actually.
My twin brother still looks years younger than me…bastard!

Went to the movies. The row directly in front was filled with middle schoolers who kept whispering to each other, looking at their phones, showing their phones to each other and spazzing out in their seats. It was ADHD overload. But at least I couldn't hear them and their phones were set to dim?

Got stuck behind a truck driver who was waiting to turn left. The problem? The driver was oblivious to the left turn lane and was trying to turn from the main lane!

Wildly Incorrect Weather Reports…

(…still, after ALL of our technological advances, re: Weather Forcasting!)
This is why when I get up every morning, I turn the TV to the Weather Channel, KTVI Fox2Now, and KMOV's weather channel (channel 4.2 on antenna).

Relatives who keep thinking that you're stepping out of line regardless of the facts.

No, I'm not going to explain further.
Been there.

What's worse is when you're completely blind to social cues due to being neurodivergent. Then you both basically walk on eggshells.

This will probably sound weird…

‘Pidgin’ English - in this case, ‘Hawaiian Pidgin’, but when it’s written like on a bumper sticker, advertising, etc.

Hearing it is fine, but whenever I see it on paper, etc., it just feels forced and/or ‘lame’ to me. Think ‘Microsoft trying to be hip’ type of lame. :p :rommie:

Examples in case you’re still scratching your head:

‘Everting We Do, Yaah, is Mayjah!!’
‘Wadda Fakkah’
‘Kaiden B*tches’
‘Bum Bai, You Learn’

Cheers,
-CM-

Customer calls up and want to know how much rear brakes are going to cost on his 2020 Mercedes Benz SUV.
Look up cost and labor and tell the customer.
Okay. I was at the dealer and they recommended some other work that needed to be done as well; then proceeds to list off oil change, battery, tires, etc; and he wants me to put it into an estimate so he can compare it to other shops.
At that point I said, Sir, just bring the vehicle in for a 120 Safety Check. That will tell you what your vehicle needs.
I can set up an appointment for you.
But I don't want to bring it in without an exact amount.
I have to let my technicians look at the vehicle first and go by their recommendation, not what the dealer told you.
Can I speak to your manager.
Hand the phone over to Paul, who proceeds
oceeds to tell the customer the exact same thing I did.
Well, that didn't make the customer happy and he hung up.

Good thing I've never had a job in retail or customer service. I wouldn't have lasted a week.
I used to work retail at Target as a stocker. If you ask me, one of the dumbest moves retailers have been doing over the last 20 years is the fact that most retailers have slowly been doing away with overnight positions. Which is a shame b/c overnight retail positions are perfect for those who are autistic/ND (includes Sensory Processing Disorder) or those who are not people persons.

Official reason: "So we'll have more people on the salesfloor helping guests."

What they won't tell: Overnights are too expensive. When Target stores in my area did overnights, team members got at least 8+ hours shifts, overnight compensation of an extra $1-1.50 per hour each shift, and health insurance/other benefits, not being overwhelmed sensory wise, and no customer interactions. Now you only get 5 or 6 hour shifts, no health insurance/other benefits unless you work 32+ hours, no overnight compensation, are overwhelmed sensory wise, and have constant customer interactions that slow down your work and your bosses asking you why you haven't made your deadlines. But here are the things about interacting with customers:

1) If you don't constantly ask "Can I help you find something?" or interact with them in some way, you can get written up or fired.

2) I tend to be more understanding of customers with disabilities.

Who made these decisions? Executives at headquarters who most likely have never worked at a store.

The store I worked at had sales staff always on stocking duty. We'd run the shipment, unload it in the back, then move out to the sales floor. We were always expected to interact with customers as well.

I never saw an issue with it, but that's how I always did it. Compared to the night staff at my local grocery store who are tasked with stocking and ringing people up overnight due to the store bring 24 hours and they never seem willing to help.

ETA: Holiday traffic.

My wife, daughter and I went to the cinema today, to watch the new Jurassic World film. The film itself was pretty good, the people who spent the entire film chatting behind us, and the people who kept fiddling with their phones... not so good. I mean, who seriously goes to the cinema to treat it like their personal living room?!
