Just saw an announcement this morning that Sunrise is making a surprise sequel - not a reboot - to Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors. It’ll air January, 2026.

Ronin Warriors was my very first anime, way back in 1996 when Sci-fi Channel aired the English dub. I’m fucking stoked to see whatever Sunrise is gonna do with it!

Yeah, I was really surprised too. I always thought Samurai Warriors was considered a bit niche. And making a sequel after more than 30 years? It's not Mazinger. A lot of people will be like "Samurai what?".

By the way, have you seen the OVA "Message"? I think the sequel will ignore its existence.

Message is the most recent one, right? I found it painfully slow and boring. Never could understand WTF the studio thought when they made it.

Nobody knows. I think they wanted to do something existentialist like Evangelion. I looked up various summaries and the gist was "WTF!??!"
