Things that frustrate us all

The ads…yeah that’s a killer.
I’m hating a repellent horror movie being shoved in my face.Time was those things were rated x or whatever category applied and kept away from general view.

My mom annoys me, I want to do volunteer work in a nursing home. I visited 2 and planned to visit a third. Place 1 is close to me but my dad lives there now and neglected my emails asking for the necessary paperwork, place 2 is in a different county but doesn't have my dad and immediately provided papers to start volunteer work.

In the end the paperwork for place 1 was filed, I cancelled the visit to place 3 and said to place 2 I already found volunteer work somewhere else. My social assistant said that I could still file the paperwork for place 2, but I declined. I don't want to do volunteer work in 2 places, the paperwork has to filled again which means I have to wait AGAIN! No thank you.

But my mom was pissed, she said my social assistant forced her ideas on me. We spend the whole morning arguing through emails and by noon I got sick of it so I send an angry email and asked to leave me alone. I'm 31, I'm not a child. I don't have to explain myself to her, I'm a grown woman. I know what I do and what the consequences are. I don't need my mom getting angry on my behalf and jump to wrong conclusions, I'm too old for that shit

I have yet another rant: I had meeting today about a project my social assistant recommend to me, I'm not going to do it. First of all I'm planning to enrol in med school and I don't know if I can combine my studies, internship and the project. Secondly, it's temporary. So I don't consider useful. Thirdly, I don't like the people involved in the project.

The first one compared me a few times with her autistic daughter, the second one has no experience with autistic people and was afraid to say something offensive. I prefer people who don't treat me like bomb who's about to explode, so I don't look forward to work together with them for the next 8 months starting mid September

I'm sitting here in the lobby and there is a car waiting at the light and he's blasting his radio.
I can hear every word even though the door is closed and the vehicle is a good 10-15 yards away.
How damaging is that to your hearing?

Being old is a huge disadvantage. I've filled out a few applications with a check box for "under 45." I get my hopes up, thinking I could get the job and then that box shows up .

That kind of thing should be illegal. Well, it actually is here. I guess I just assumed it was the same in the US. The only age-related question we can legally ask is if the applicant is over 18 or not.

That’s awful, and I’m sorry you’re having such a rough go finding a new job. Hopefully something comes along soon.

Despite ageism being illegal, I know for a fact it exists with companies. Once you hit 40, it becomes much, much harder to find a job because so many employers don't seem to value people past a certain age.

They forget that more often than not, the older group is more reliable, consistent, and responsible than younger people.

It's definitely leading to labor shortages in the auto repair industry.
Wendall laments that the twenty-somethings don't want to get their hands dirty.
They just want to sit in front of a keyboard all day.
Unfortunately, a lot of shops have technicians in their 50-60s who are getting near retirement age, or their bodies are breaking down due to the accumulated years of heavy labor, and there's no one in the pipeline to replace them.

Apparently so. Federal law allows it. If the job requires standing, lifting or walking all the time, they want someone who can do it and will stay on the job a long time. I've seen it two or three times on retail jobs I've applied to.
