Will We Ever See a Trek Crossover...

The best chance may have been a secret, hidden crossover with Quantum Leap during Enterprise. Lol.

An animated movie involving Doctor Who and Star Trek would be the best bet for a crossover. Then both franchises can pull cameos from everywhere.
This could be a good idea. Something explicitly non-canon so they can just go wild with the ideas. Just as long as it's the Star Trek side that's doing the animation.

Star Trek already did a live-action crossover with another franchise.

Mind. Blown.

Or a complete disaster.
My money is on this one. I was thinking about this last weekend as I had s conversation about if Dune and Star Wars would be good for crossover. I thought they wouldn't be but Star Wars and Halo might be.

For Star Trek, I have a tougher time with crossovers. I think the series has a unique enough feel that crossing over with another franchise seems rather strange to me.

The Orville.

Holodeck program gains sentience, or extremely off timeline iteration or something..

Properties like Orville or Galaxy Quest, that are basically Star Trek with the serial number rubbed off, would be easier to crossover than tonally different ones like Battlestar, B5, Dune or even Star Wars.

Star Trek meets Dune:

What do you mean you need 'spice' for interstellar navigation? Here's a standard warp drive! (or even spore drive). Oh, and based on the sample you provided us with, we've programmed our replicators to produce the stuff, too, for the other uses you have for it!
<entire spice-based economy collapses>

I think such a crossover would need to assume 'the burn'- like circumstances (and spice being non-replicable, too).

Although, they could visit some other properties with the serial numbers filed off like planet of the apes, forbidden planet, Logan's run etc as a planet of the week with no issue. Maybe even Cybertron or Oa LOL. Just like they are already doing with the alien franchise on snw.

At least that's better than the original.

I enjoyed the first two movies and the first alien versus predator but they definitely have had diminishing results. Prometheus should have just been a simple prequel like it started out as, alien 3 Lost me by killing the cast of aliens when getting back to them should have been her motivation, and then killing her. Everything since then has been pretty pointless.

If I cared one iota about the Gorn I might be fussed. Since I don't, and it's one episode that has mixed reception for me I am strangely ok.
Its just such an iconic piece of Trek history, and I'm a total TOS guy, so to me its bothersome. Shit, the last time Shatner really did anything Trek related was that commercial with him and the Gorn lol. IDK. I would have been ok with some clever retcon, like seeing the Gorn wear a space suit that was similar in looks to the original suit or something. It is very hard for me to get over some of the completely different visuals on SNW, including the interior sets, but I am 100% with the external "Disco-prise" ship model. Thats my "strangely ok".

The Gorn are a poor antagonist. Adding any depth to them is ok to me. It's just like the cursed Klingons of TMP or the Trill to me.

I say this as a TOS first person but Arena is not the standout episode for me as it is for others.

I still am waiting for some TOS/Augment Klingons to be mixed into a scene with TMP-TNG and Disco Klingons. Even some house warfare or Klingon racism on each other. They could do some interesting stories with it.

I'm not against adding depth or expanding on their culture or making them look more realistic, but this just seems to be a tad bit too far.
