Ok I ask why when Kirk is away it goes Spock that's fine but then it goes Scotty why not dr McCoy I feel like he ranks higher who's with me don't get me wrong Scotty is my favourite character but still

Only line officers with command training are in line to take over when the higher ranked officers are off the ship. McCoy has no training or experience as a starship commander so Scotty and Sulu are always going to get the chair instead of him.
Would you want your mechanic doing heart surgery? Command and Medical are simply different disciplines.

You know I just had a thought like in TNG how data gets offered a few times to be fully human or part but I think why they never did that like A making him like that but there's a twist ect is because if data became human he might love it then be extremely disappointed when he gets turned back or that he becomes human for a while but he is disappointed with the outcome and then his sole want in life hadn't been what he wanted who else thinks that is the case
I think it just comes down to the writers thinking Data's story would be over if he achieved being human. There's scenarios you could write where you could use a human version of Data but I don't think they would ever actually have our Data become human even for a gag
