Anyone else impressed by how they handled Ezri?

I want to just put out there that I'm actually a big fan of the tragedy inherent in Sisko staying in the wormhole forever which he still is as of 2381 in alpha canon.

The Prophets continually told him he would have to pay a price for his actions and what greater punishment is there for a man like Sisko. He's ascended to godhood essentially but is so detached from everyone. It's a beautiful tragedy. Now I'm aware Avery Brooks asked for ambiguity because he didnt want to be the stereotypical absent black dad but in universe that isnt a thing anymore.

It could be argued that he could communicate via his void like he does with Kassidy.

But yeah I just think it's the best ending for his story and he can always be a guiding hand in his own way.

4. Jadzia shouldn't have been killed off. She should have left for another post and been replaced by Ezri who could be a sister to her or so.
Jadzia wouldn't have just taken another assignment somewhere and left her husband behind on DS9. Or are you suggesting Worf should have gone with her and left the show too?

"Jadiza left, I'm her sister" would be, IMO, a very unsatisfying approach. It's such a "TV" way to do it.

Even if Sisko was (supposedly) still wormholin' as of 2381, it still doesn't preclude him coming back in 2375. Wacky fun non-linear stuff. ;)

Starfleet officers don't always get the luxury of saying 'no' to an assignment they are sent to. This includes married couples. Especially in wartime, they go where they are sent. (Sisko said exactly this to his dad in "A TIME TO STAND". And he's right.)

And yet, Ben and Jennifer were on the Saratoga together, with their little son.
The O'Briens were transfered together from the Enterprise to DS9. I'm sure that if push came to shove, Starfleet could separate a married couple, however it's clear that they will try hard to avoid it.

Given that Jadzia was leaving the show, the writers took advantage of a great opportunity. The audience has been told several times about the Trill life cycle, now they had a chance to see it. In visual media like TV or film, showing is much preferred to telling.

I'm sure it's been said before; if there had to be a little bit of cast drama, if one of the characters had to be killed off, fate let it be the one that let them do something with it other than just a funeral.

Jennifer and Keiko were never Starfleet officers... they were married to one.

Jadzia and Worf are both Starfleet officers, so they can very much be sent to different assignments. And they were married during wartime... they will be more apt to send their people where they are more needed.

Jadzia could have left temporarily.

They could have created a scenario where jadzia leaves for a temporary post on the Enterprise or some other ship, then that ship would end up behind enemy lines, just like what happened to the ship Valiant in the episode Valiant.

Then Jadzia could have returned at the end of the last episode to re-unite with Worf.
