News New episodes of King of the Hill coming to hulu.

‘King of the Hill’ voice actor Jonathan Joss killed in Texas shooting after argument with neighbor: Joss, who voiced “John Redcorn” on the long-running cartoon, got into a argument with the neighbor at his home in San Antonio Sunday night when the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot him several times, according to police.

LuAnn, Lucky, Dale, John Redcorn...I'm starting to think this reboot is cursed. :(

I think I'm just going to steer clear of the reboot. One of the original charms of King of the Hill was its ability to make Conservatives somewhat relatable. I just don't see that working in this environment.

RIP, Mr. Joss. I enjoyed many a night listening to your portrayal of John Redcorn.

Mike Judge is involved. I think they will do very well in making the characters still likeable. Judge understand red state life better than most people working in Hollywood. If anyone can reboot msuccessfully, "King of the Hill" it is him.

Having watched all of "The Simpsons" up until season thirteen when it was such shit for two or three seasons I couldn't keep punishing myself, having watched all of "The Critic" (including the webisodes), all of "Futurmama" except this last new season, and all of "American Dad!" up until the last two or three seasons, I can say this:

Every show had it's ups & downs, bad episodes aplenty, and seasons weaker than others.

Now, having said that, a couple years ago I spent some time and watched the entire run of "King of the Hill". No animated comedy series I have ever seen has ever been as consistently funny and true to their characters with barely a bad episodes to speak of, for thirteen years, like "King of the Hill" accomplished.

If Mike can pull that off without succumbing to the modern woke world or shoving anything down our throats at the behest of Hulu, I trust he can pull off another few seasons of consistent good quality seasons.

And hopefully Sony will pull its head out of it's ass and let Lovtiz do a revival of "The Critic".

It wasn't due to an argument. The neighbor attacked him and his partner.

The way the media is reporting on Jonathan Joss's death is pissing me off.

The first couple versions of the story I saw, they reported it as "Actor shot in argument with neighbor". That wording, it's like okay, a two sided argument that somebody took too far.

Then you see what his husband wrote about it. The neighbors literally burned their house down because they were gay. And when they came back to check their old mailbox, he just walked up and shot him. It's a clear cut hate crime and the media isn't reporting it as a hate crime.

The police and the other neighbors are disputing the husband's version of events, however, so who knows?

You mean the folks who likely ignored numerous reports about issues are disputing that this was a hate crime with some history? The hell, you say.

Or there really was no evidence. San Antonio is a pretty progressive city (very different than much of the rest of Texas) with what has been called a "Thriving LGBTQ+ Scene" and a Police Department LGBTQ+ Liaison. While certainly not dispositive, that fact tends to cut against an assumption that the cops are indifferent to reports of hate crimes. There's also the fact the neighbors seem to be describing Joss as having a history of erratic behavior, which some speculate may have caused the feud, rather than anyone's orientation.

Again, at this point, we don't really know. Sometimes murder is just murder.

I was a fan of Joss's work on KotH and Parks and Recreation and have no burning desire to defend someone who allegedly killed him (or any other innocent person). But I don't think it's necessarily reasonable to assume that the police, or anyone but the killer, is at fault here.

^^^ From "There's also". Exactly. Everybody wants to leap in befor ethe facts. How many times have we had one false hate crime, one false claim of homophobia, and so forth, over the last decade?
