Boston just squeaked in and have been inconsistent at best all year. Habs have defied all expectations all season long, have a killer power play, and a coach that knows how to win a cup. Always a good series between these two, btw.In the East:
(8) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Montreal Canadiens
Probably the worst matchup Ottawa could have asked for in the first round. Defense and goaltending is horrible. No Alfredsson, no Fisher. Done and done.(7) Ottawa Senators vs. (2) Pittsburgh Penguins
Philly has also been inconsistent all year while the Caps have been on an incredible run. Key here is Ovechkin (what Dmen are Philly going to match him up with??). He's going to light it up.(6) Philadelphia Flyers vs. (3) Washington Capitals
Toughest call of the East 1st round. Will Jagr show up? If he does, then watch out. Lundqvist is an awesome goalie, but I think the decision will go to Mr Dependable, Martin Brodeur.(5) New York Rangers vs. (4) New Jersey Devils
Nashville is only in the playoffs due to the Canucks' complete collapse. Just cna't match the depth of Detroit.(8) Nashville Predators vs. (1) Detroit Red Wings
The Flames are utterly useless. Kipper and Iggy will probably steal them a game or two, but San Jose is a different team with Campbell, plus Thornton, Michalek and Marleau are starting to peak - also, Marleau has the most playoff goals in the past 3 years in the NHL.(7) Calgary Flames vs. (2) San Jose Sharks
Tough call, both teams are playing awesome hockey right now. If Forsberg stays healthy, the Avs win. If he doesn't, it's the Wild.(6) Colorado Avalanche vs. (3) Minnesota Wild
Dallas has looked terrible as of late. Richards was a good accquisition, but won't put them over the top against these rested Anaheim palyers (Niedermayer, Pronger, Selanne, even Perry). Anaheim is just too tough and has too much depth compared to Dallas to lose.(5) Dallas Stars vs. (4) Anaheim Ducks
I'd like to say San Jose, so I'm going to say San Jose. Also, who do you predict will go all the way to win Lord Stanley's cup?
Why? Just curious. I can understand the envy of non-Habs fans whose teams are centuries from equaling the number of Cup banners in the raftersAnybody BUT Calgary, Montreal or Colorado, in the final.
I agree with the first two. Especially Calgary. In the words of the Arrogant worms "Albeeertta doesnt suck, but Calgary does"Anybody BUT Calgary, Montreal or Colorado, in the final.
