Are there any fan-favorite/well liked Characters (from any Trek) that you just can't stand?

No one is praising the behavior in a real world context.

We are all into fantasy, at some level, or else we wouldn’t be here.

Just an example: I believe police should be held to the highest standards possible, as they have power over us. Same time? God damn, I love Dirty Harry movies.
That's your view.

Mine is far different. I do not watch the Dirty Harry films.

I’m just struggling with the idea you don’t believe in escapism, yet this board is largely about nothing but escapism.

I wanted to be Captain Kirk for a long time. On some deep level, I still do.

I don't believe I'm it for me. I use to. I still appreciate discussing it.

I couldn't take living like that, it would be miserable to have no escape from day-to-day life. :(
Glad you don't have to  I'm sure you and Tolkien would get along famously based on a quote I read today.

Back to our regularly scheduled thread. Didn't care for Picard for the longest time. I always struggled when he had to shoot himself and my poor young brain found that very strange, plus the rudeness towards 20th century people.

I've soften a bit over the years.

You’re talking about Time Squared?

Why did that bother you?

I thought the shooting was reasonable. Alternate Picard left the Enterprise and his crew to die. Our Picard thinks that was cowardly and knows he would never do that. He basically saw an imposter in his body. I thought the reaction might have been a little on the tame side.

Because it made no sense to me. It's like here's this thinking man trying to solve the problem and then nope, just going to shoot me for being a jerk.

I’m not sure I follow that, but he did solve the problem.

Anyway, Picard never bothered me (until his own show, anyway). I liked how he was.

I’ve liked most Star Trek characters.

I suppose another one I didn’t like was Booker.

You had a time anomaly and a ticking clock, it was the only solution that seemed to be available within the circumstances presented.
