What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

You don’t like the introductions, wished they were done differently. Which is fine, people are just telling you why they do work for them.
No, they're telling I'm wrong.

I'll accept it today.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I understood your points fine. I just don't agree with it.
Look, imagine Kirk being filmed like the Enterprise in that scene, same shots, multiple passes, wordless reaction.

If it works for you, great. I find it odd as a scene, as placed, as paced.

If you only see it in that context, then you’re telling everyone engaging with you that they are wrong. There is no “right or wrong”, just differing opinions based on the material.
I'm being told I don't understand film, the emotional reaction to the scene, or to treat the Enterprise as a character.

I've never said "don't like this scene, everyone! Stop being sheep and buying what Big Star Trek is telling you!"

End of the day, it only matters if it is valid to you. I’ve gotten the hose more than once for saying I don’t see SNW and TOS as being the same timeline.

People disagree, life goes on.
Consider me one of those guys who agrees with you on SNW & TOS not being in the same Timeline.

And that's fine IMO. It doesn't change the enjoyment factor of either show.

"Man, it takes them forever to show off the ship. The starship porn is ridiculous."

It was 1979. They spent $46 million on that movie in 1978 and 1979 dollars. They'd never had those kind of filmmaking resources to depict the Enterprise. We were getting starship porn.
Well, ships are identified as "she". At least in the United States. "They wear a great deal of of paint, have a great many men around them, and give a mighty argument." As the old adage says

It's more disappointment in myself.

So it goes.

Why? This is supposed to be fun. In the world we currently live in, it is nice to have discussions where the weight of the world or our own acceptance isn’t in question.

If someone walks away from these conversations feeling bad or uncomfortable, then we as a community have failed.

Hardly. I hold myself to a higher standard of communication is all.

Was a little passive aggressive in my response and I defaulted to sarcasm.

It's not a reflection on the community.
