My friend Greg in high school got me to sit behind the wheel of a beater that he was going tow in and get $100 for. Luckily, it wasn't a highway like this but we went around the corner at a busy intersection and the rope broke. I made him give me $75 instead of the originally agreed-upon $50.
So there I was, sitting and watching TV, when my brother came walking in. Told me to put shoes on and grab a coat, and where's the keys to my car. Seems his truck died a mile outside of town. We go out and hook up a tow strap. He tells me to get in the truck and steer while he drove my car. As we hit the edge of town, there a small rise and then slight down hill. I'm watching the tow strap go slack, about to run over my own car. I start easing on the brakes just as my brother hit the gas. Well, something had to give. Clank-clank-clank. Not my car. Not the strap, it held tight. Nope, the front bumper ripped right off my brother's truck. It wasn't a total loss ... my brother taught me a few new words that night, none of which I can post here.
