What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Could have been original script material that made it into the DC Comics adaptation but never made it on film. That happens a lot with movie comics and toys.

It is God's Great Gift to all sentient life in the universe.

I like the idea of McCoy playing a prank and altering an info file so much better, whether it's in an early screenplay draft or not.
Me too. It plays right into what we've always known about McCoy since TOS. A man with a playful twinkle in his eye who likes to take gentle, loving pokes at his friends. I'm not necessarily against the novelization context, but it's not as good as McCoy deciding to play a practical joke on Spock before they all beamed down to Earth for shore leave.

Catering to old fans has limited appeal.

There's no respect problem here; fans want one thing, casuals another, and the studio is trying to balance it in some way and maybe make some money.

I'm over hearing how canon needs "respecting." It doesn't need any such thing.
Ok can we move on from KRB forgiveness issues and return to more interesting controversial topics like you know the military, money and Klingon foreheads? Cheers

My controversial Star Trek opinion is that I'm surprised no one has made a new 'Is Starfleet a Military?' thread yet. Even if it's just to keep the subject safely contained.
