The part that I keep coming back to is the fact Renner just recovered from a life-threatening injury. And they want to pay him less for more work?

Yeah, fuck that shit.

As much as I want more Hawkeye, I don't want it at that cost.
Isn't this the same shit they pulled once upon a time with Terrence Howard?
( also reminds me of how a certain someone was treated over at DC )

I was wondering if Hawkeye could be recast like in War Machine? Of course, if they can convince Hailee Steinfeld to play. But I think they will sit down at the negotiation table again after this interview. Either they will keep the salaries of the actors the same and reduce the production costs. Or they will make a deal for the Hawkeye movie or another movie.

Of course, the last thing I mentioned is the movie thing: It's something that can happen if the episode fee for which the actors also receive the show is more than $3.5 million.

There's a big difference between the situation with Renner and the one with Howard.

As far I know, Howard asked for too much money and was let go. Simple as that.

Renner suffered from a life-threatening injury and now Marvel wants to pay him less for more work.

Not even remotely the same.

And before you even bring it up, Ed Norton asked for a pay raise and more creative control. That was something Marvel wasn't about to do at that point of time, especially for their first major tent pole film that they spent years building up towards.

I think this is the interview The Wall Street Journal did with Kevin Fegie.

They probably want to make a second season of Hawkeye with the same budget price as they did for the new Daredevil show.

Let's say for example: If they made the new Daredevil show for $100 million, they want to make the second season of Hawkeye for $100 million again.

Kevin Feige reportedly told Marvel colleagues that watching every new MCU project had begun to feel more like homework than entertainment

Employees talk regularly about 'Marvel fatigue' and worry they've created a 'no new fans club' — where new viewers have no clue what's going on

I said the same years ago. Instead of trying to pile everything into swelling arcs, more of the MCU productions should have been standalone stories with absolutely no connection to some big arc--essentially like the comics (pre-1980s), giving audiences the choice to select / enjoy a story without feeling some of its parts require an explanation, or is not settled in that one production.

If those working for Marvel Studios are worried that they've created a 'no new fans club' (now they're worried?), its a case of too little, too late. The MCU will always have its diehard fans, but one might wonder if the franchise is growing it fanbase.

Heard from a friend that Renner was only going to have a small amount of screentime in Hawkeye II and that's why his salary was lower.
