Steve1989MRE is still doing it in 3189. He preserved himself after eating too many boxes of World War II Army Air Forces fudge.
SF DEBRIS commentary is still my favorite:No way Bones wasn’t partying with that medallion around his neck.![]()
SF DEBRIS commentary is still my favorite:
Chuck: Anyway, I suppose as we see Kirk head off, it's a good time to comment on how the updated ship is an improvement, despite overdoing the beige a little bit. They've clearly gone out of their way with all the stuff to not have that sixties era feel to it. Instead, be a timeless piece that— (McCoy shows up on the transporter dressed in what can best be described as a Bee Gees ensemble) What the hell? (disco music plays) I'm not sure, this might be Grizzly Adams, and he seems to have the headpiece to the staff of Ra around his neck.
NX -01 and it's not even close. Here's a controversial topic....
Which ship better deserves the moniker Tough Little Ship?
USS DEFIANT NX-74204
Or
ENTERPRISE NX-01
Now obviously we're not pitting them against each other in a fight. The Defiant is hundreds of years more advanced and is considered a warship. The NX-01 wouldn't stand a chance. But within their individual eras, which ship is the better example of a well build Starship that could stand up to some pretty serious punishment?
I personally would argue on the side of the NX-01. We saw that little Starship take one hell of a beating, time after time. But she kept going. With the possible exception of Voyager in Year of Hell, we've never seen a Starship take the kind of beating the NX-01 took. She is the perfect exemplification of the phrase. "They don't make them like they used to." And she seemingly did it all without shields! She also managed to survive a war in one piece, which is more than her competition can say.![]()

he had a McDonald's coffee stirrer and a long fingernail too. That medallion was there solely to hold Bones stash of cocaine.![]()
I still think Disco McCoy was the best dressed character in TMP. he was OUTTA SIGHT, ya dig?If I remember correctly, the behind-the-scenes idea was that he had become some sort of hermit, or a veterinarian. So he wasn't even at a party; those are his normal clothes to live in a cabin in the woods...
McCoy's clothes in the next movies are a major improvement, though. Unlike poor Chekov and his pink pajamas.
The Defiant.Here's a controversial topic....

I'm not a fan of the "Non-Fraternizing" Policy or the division, but I understand the need for Professionalism in the workplace, but there are levels to Fraternization that should be allowed. So now starfleet is a military? As you now using military sources to determine the behaviour of starfleet enlisted......
Michael Burnham claimed that her position of first officer aboard the USS Shenzhou had prevented her from partying with the crew, since it would have been inappropriate fraternization. (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad")
In 2371, Commander Chakotay suggested the possibility of a policy regarding fraternization amongst members of the USS Voyager crew when he observed two crewmembers kissing in a turbolift
Or we can simplify it all and have one rank structure and not copy old Earth Western Military Traditions.Nothing to stop the enlisted in starfleet going to the academy and becoming officer. I get the impression that enlisted like O'brien simply didn't want the hassle of doing 4 years at the academy.
It works and it works well. That is why it has been pretty much unchanged in western militaries for hundreds of years.Or we can simplify it all and have one rank structure and not copy old Earth Western Military Traditions.
As I've stated before, there are others who disagree with that notion. It works and it works well. That is why it has been pretty much unchanged in western militaries for hundreds of years.
No point fixing what isn't broken.
What's so bad about being a Officer? Not everyone wants to be an officer either.
We can change that. We're not bound to old Earth Traditions, especially a service that has so many Alien Members inside. An organization like Starfleet needs structure. Using Western military traditions seems to have worked for them for a thousand years.
Short of Mile's O'Brien, nearly every show has focused on StarFleet Officers outside of Aliens/Civilian characters.Real world, no producer is going to throw away what works.
Not everyone wants the stress and responsibility. What's so bad about being a Officer?
Watching Lower Decks, it doesn't look so bad.Not everyone wants the stress and responsibility.

Why is it that nearly every main character in StarFleet is a "StarFleet Officer".
We can change that.
That's not hard to do, Trek already does it.Because people want to be where the action and decision making are at. Drama.
I've told you before, I don't want to.Which is why I've suggested before that you create your own universe.
