Yeah, no. You got blue in the face screaming at all of us that you had industry connections and therefore you knew that a Section 31 series was happening. Repeatedly.
No, you're 100% wrong. I said it was a backdoor pilot, I was right. I didn't say it was going to be picked up. You can read back easily. Please improve your reading skills before responding to me.

Nope. You said that this was a pilot for a tv series going forward. And it wasn’t. It was a hastily put-together tv movie made solely because Yeoh said she wanted to do it. They had no intention to continue it as a series.

I’m not sure how you measure ‘success,’ but the reality is that it was a dismal failure in the eyes of everyone who posts on social media that Kurtzman would read.
Either you're just making a joke or you're not too bright. None of what you say is accurate. My characterization is correct.

The tv movie did quite well, but I think the overall reaction may have doomed it.

Oh, I see. I'm wrong, as are the six people who gave a Like to my post above? Uh-huh.

Even if your assertions were correct, those kind of comments are inappropriate and moderators don't look too kindly on talk like that. But putting that aside, if you find yourself in a situation where so many people are "misunderstanding" what you said, than it's because you didn't properly convey your intent the first time around. It's up to you to accurately communicate what you mean and calling people who took a different interpretation of your posts as "not too bright" or telling them to "improve their reading skills" only makes you look like a bad person.

I haven't watched this movie yet. I take it it didn't turn out that great.
It did decently viewing figures wise, general reception online has been poor.

Go into expecting a fun little space romp and you should have a good time. If you want something dark, gritty and serious then this wont be for you.

I have previously drawn comparisons to Legends of Tomorrow.

Unfortunately there are lingering questions that will probably never be answered unless a beta canon property picks up the threads. So be prepared for that.

If you're a fan of Empress Georgiou then this is worth it, if you never cared for her then there's a lot less that will hook you.

Meet it without lofty expectations and a mood appropriate for its tone. It's only 90 minutes long.

I’m in the middle of a Voyager rewatch (end of season five right now), so the memory of almost all of those episodes is pretty fresh in my mind. There’s some that I would definitely put above Section 31 just in terms of pure entertainment value: “Threshold” is a lot of fun, for example; and on this recent rewatch I found “Once Upon a Time” a surprisingly deep and emotional episode for Neelix — but sure, you have to stomach the Flotter stuff.

Others, like “Darkling” or “The Fight” are definitely lightyears below Section 31 and I would rather watch the movie twice before suffering through those again. Then there’s also an episode like “Retrospect”, which I find outright insulting and unwatchable, even though it seems to fly under the radar for most viewers for some reason.

But overall I would have to agree that the very nature of Voyager being a show with 45-minute adventures gives it a ton more rewatchability than something like Section 31, which tries to be a clever full-length action movie.

I have found little of CBSTrek to be rewatchable. I think I might rewatch Prodigy with my 15 year old stepson (and PRO was my favorite nuTrek show) if he's interested. But in preparation for the Star Trek cruise, we mostly watched episodes of TOS and TNG, with the DS9 and VOY pilots.

^ I think I’ve watched both seasons of Strange New Worlds three times now and pop in the occasional episode of Lower Decks. But otherwise I agree, I can’t see myself wanting to rewatch either Discovery or Picard anytime soon.

Funny enough, a couple weeks ago, my wife made this comment when we were talking about our order of best to worst ST shows saying this: "I already knew DISCOVERY is your least liked show because you haven't rewatched any of it."

DISCO, to date, is the only series where I have not rewatched a single episode. Nor do I feel the urge to do so. Same with PICARD season 2.

Then there’s also an episode like “Retrospect”, which I find outright insulting and unwatchable, even though it seems to fly under the radar for most viewers for some reason.
That's an episode I tend to always forget about, as it's not particularly memorable. Hell, I remember I somehow missed it when it first aired and didn't know anything about it until years later I caught it during Voyager's syndicated run and was completely surprised by the existence of a fourth season episode I had somehow never heard of up to that point.

I... for some reason... decided to watch Section 31 again. In all fairness, my first watch was mostly a skim.

I rate it a 2. It's... bad. BUT i'll toss a 2 over a 1 because it's mostly bad Star Trek. As a generic, random sci-fi spacey movie, it's not the worst thing i've ever seen. If it wasn't trying, and failing miserably, to be Star Trek... I would see it as a mostly forgettable Space Suicide Squad knockoff.

As Star Trek... oof. It's bad. It's really bad.

I haven't re-watched it yet. I'm doing a slow-mo watch/re-watch of Michelle Yeoh films and key Georgiou episodes first. After I get through "Terra Firma" Parts I & II, I'm putting on Section 31.

It's going to be a bit before I get there. I'm up to the '00s with Michelle Yeoh's films (I started off with her '80s Hong Kong movies) and I'm at the end of the second season with her key episodes of Disco. The DS9/VOY re-watches and B5 first-watch I'm doing take priority. I'm doing the Yeoh (Re-)Watch on the side in the DSC Forum, and infrequently.

I've discovered a lot of good (or at least fun) movies of hers along the way.

For me, before Discovery, what I saw with her in it was Tomorrow Never Dies, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Sunshine. I liked all of them.

If you don't mind watching old sub-titled movies, I recommend:
Yes, Madam
Wing Chun
Stunt Woman
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Those are the ones that stood out to me the most. The Heroic Trio too, but that's more of a guilty pleasure.

After Disco premiered but before I started the watch/re-watch thread I have going, I saw Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. I thought it was a nice, quirky, outside-the-box movie. Still haven't seen Crazy Rich Asians yet. I'm getting there.
