Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I rewatched the three seasons of Picard this week, finished the last season today. Despite the memberberries I can see the appeal of Season 3 and its a shame there won't be a series with Captain Seven, even if it has the annoying Jack Crusher Picard in it.

Many years ago, a man named Lelani Melville Jones wrote a book called Children of the Rainbow about the Hawaiian native healers, the kahunas, and the ways in which they controlled nature.

When the manuscript was completed, a dog chewed it to shreds and Jones was forced to write the book all over again. When he completed it the second time, there was a plumbing leak and the manuscript was destroyed. The third time through, Jones became ill and faced several other obstacles before the manuscript was finally published.

The magical secrets contained in the book were considerable. The gods did not want the book released before its time.

I prefer to see everything Legacy has faced so far -- the actors/writers strike, the merger, etc. -- as an example of divine timing in action.

I went through this with the "Birds of Prey on DVD" campaign (for six years, we were told, "Give it up! You're crazy! It'll never happen! It's dead and buried! Let it go!").

After a six-year campaign, we got the DVD set. In addition, Birds of Prey is now streaming on Amazon Prime! :)

We are getting SOME results (We have Picard Funkos. We're getting Picard action figures.)

I've started a Picard rewatch, as I think it's the right time to see how I feel about each season. I'm predicting that I will enjoy the first two seasons more, now that I am prepared for the ups and downs.

Also, after seeing Prodigy recently, I have additional context for the Synth attack and various uniform combinations and reasons for it. It all helps.

Nice story. :)

Nobody can tell me the U.S.S. Grissom was so old that it's NCC-638 registry reflected its actual age. Some ships just use lower, previously unassigned vessel numbers on their hulls.
Yeah I think the ship has long sailed on it making sense. Sometimes they're too low, maybe too high (in my opinion for the 24th century ships). I probably used to hate it but now I kinda like the randomness of it, because the why of it might not be super interesting but feels realistic in-universe for bureaucratic or legacy or someone trying to be unique and draw attention. There's a lot of things in Trek where it feels like someone back on Earth or somewhere pushed some agenda and it's how things end up where they did.

Context? Did Mulgrew visit the set for Picard S3 and get a costume for some reason? Is something currently filming? Is this an April Fools joke?

EDIT: Just did a Google search on the image. It is indeed a photoshop picture.

They were on the Star Trek Cruise together this year (it's Voyager's 30th anniversary). At first, I thought this was something for THAT event.

Everyone seems to be enjoying it regardless. :)

Shout out to the two year anniversary of "The Last Generation" airing... I might have only given it an 8/10, but it was still an exciting piece of Star Trek, and a significant high point of the franchise in the 21st century.

“The Last Generation” actually aired on 4/20/23. “The Next Generation” aired 2/16/23.
