Things that frustrate us all

Spent hours this morning doing yard choices. Got up early, went to Home Depot and bought 8 bags of mulch, a bag of Weed & Feed, and some Round Up.

Spread mulch all around the front and spread Weeds &Feed in the front and back yard . Then watered everything.

My hands are killing me but I still have work to do. I can't believe how expensive all the yard products have become.

But because we have an HOA, I can't let the yardwork slide.

*sigh*
 
My damaged (from a flood) home has been for sale since December. My mom just can't deal with trying to get things fixed when there are so many hurdles. The realtor told us we had a 95% of selling it to a couple that wanted to fix it up.
I didn't want to get my hopes up but my sister came to town last week for my birthday and insisted we go look at some new places to live. Found one that my mom liked and was furnished and everything. The people who were going to buy our house backed out at the last minute.
I'm just numb. Nothing's going right.

Dual carriageway near us coned off for miles as highway maintenance had guys litter picking.

It's not that they are doing it that frustrates me, it's that they have to.

In the UK it's a real problem people littering, they should make anyone caught doing it do a few weekends litter picking as punishment.
 
2 parallel roads (200 meters apart) in small village crossing a rail track. Simultaneously closed down for road maintenance. Nearest road crossing railtrack 5 km away, so that if you have to be on the other side of the village with your car, you have to take a 10 km detour. All of which could have been avoided by simply working on one of both roads at the time and leaving the other open.

I just got back from a mini-vacation to Kansas City. I go down there a lot to see baseball (I'm not a Royals fan but I love their ballpark) and get BBQ. I've always stayed at the same hotel - Hotel Lotus near the ballpark - UNTIL FUCKING NOW. :mad:

This hotel has totally gone to shit. The last time I was there - I went to KC a lot in 2021 when things were starting to open up - it was decent. NOT ANYMORE. There's trash all over, the cleaning is basically nonexistent, they don't give a decent breakfast anymore (and the Denny's next door is gone), the internet sucks, the TV service sucks, and worse yet, the heater in my room wasn't working so they gave me a fucking SPACE HEATER. :mad:

Seriously. To hear the desk clerk tell it - and I had to have heard her wrong, as no sane hotel operator would ever do this - at some point in the spring, they disable all the heaters in the rooms and switch them to cool. It was fucking 30 degrees outside!

Screw this. I'm never staying there again. I'm just gonna put this in all caps: HOTEL LOTUS SUCKS. Back when it was a Drury Inn, it was great. The service was good, the food was good. And they even comped you two free drinks per night. But now it really fucking sucks.

Fortunately, there's also a Best Western down there. That's gonna have to be it!

I'm just afraid that those hotels will die if the Royals move out (they're supposed to be working on a new ballpark in the city). I don't see them surviving just on Chiefs traffic.

Had a substitute the other day who pronounced all our names wrong and/or called us by our middle or last names for no apparent reason, so weird. Got called a mispronounciation of my middle name which is so weird because I have like the easiest middle name to pronounce ever. Basically, it was this:

One of our substitute teachers came in and only called us by our last names (after we answered the register) but was rather annoyed that we didn't call him Mr (last name).

Trouble was, first time he'd subbed for our class and never introduced himself so it was Mr mumble-mumble :D
 
Being locked in a car for 12 hours with your parents who both vape and refuse to stop despite you constantly having told them for the past two years that it stinks and gives you a headache.

My mom dismissed my concerns with "but you had a headache from the Elf Bar, this is a pod, it only releases mist, it's perfectly harmless and actually smells good." Yeah, the constant stench of artificial blueberry-flavored tobacco permeating the entire car and making me gag tells me otherwise.

Vaped fumes give me the worst headaches I've ever had in my life. And I've suffered from migraines.
 
California prohibits the sale of flavored Vape products. Retailers can only sell off a list of allowed non-flavored tobacco products for vaping. It is illegal for anyone under 21 to use or possess tobacco, including vapes.

If you want to smoke in California, you would probably pick marijuana instead of tobacco. The age restrictions are the same, and it is a less expensive vice, because you can grow your own weed.

IIRC, they were working on a national ban in the last parliament. Obviously that died when parliament was prorogued, but maybe it’s something they can pick back up in the future, depending who wins on Monday. (Although admittedly, they will have much bigger fish to fry to start with.)

I just checked, and the proposal was to limit to just three flavours: mint, menthol, or tobacco. I’m not entirely sure what “menthol flavour” is, although I get that it used to be a cigarette flavour. My mind just associates “tobacco flavour” with “cigarette flavour”, which as a non-smoker, just sounds disgusting.
