Thanks for posting this update. I intended to do so myself, but I just distracted watching Ashleigh Burton on YouTube react to "Deadpool & Wolverine". Anyway, with so many delays spanning FOUR freakin' YEARS I have my doubts Wand will keep this schedule; but I guess we'll see.I got an email from The Wand Company about the TOS Tricorder. They will be selling it via Amazon UK, and will email registered users when they come into stock. There's a max order of 2 per person. Price will be $350 USD or £324 including VAT.
I've got a few questions about this - if it's just a standard Amazon listing, how does that prevent people who didn't register to preorder from simply buying up the stock? The order limit will be fairly easy to circumvent. Can they do a private listing on Amazon?
Hopefully this means there will be plenty of stock for everyone, but I do worry about scalpers!
£324 is what it's going to cost in the UK, so it will depend on the exchange rate at the time what the rest of the world pays, that will include delivery fees, local taxes, import duties and possibly tariffs (depending).Yeah I think it's a reasonable price. The Factory Entertainment stuff is double what Wand Company are charging.
They said ages ago that they were aiming for around the 350 mark, but I was expecting that to be GBP not USD. So actually it's going to be less than I budgeted for!
Amazon will be removing VAT for anyone ordering outside of the UK, so it will actually be £270 GBP. Plus delivery, etc.£324 is what it's going to cost in the UK, so it will depend on the exchange rate at the time what the rest of the world pays, that will include delivery fees, local taxes, import duties and possibly tariffs (depending).
The cost outside the UK will still be dependent on the exchange rate at the time. At the time they sent that email out, it equated to £270 GBP. They also included a caveat about local sales tax and delivery. In terms of tariffs, you will not be hit by them if you order one. If you order two, you will be subject to local tariffs. Given how fluid that situation is at the moment, it could change overnight.Amazon will be removing VAT for anyone ordering outside of the UK, so it will actually be £270 GBP. Plus delivery, etc.
It's still a cracking deal for the rest of the world, but yes - in essence, it is a rare win for us.A rare win for UK-based Trekkies.

I quote:
"For those buying from the US or other countries, Amazon will deduct the VAT from the price, so it will not be charged, and the price (before shipping and US Sales Tax for US customers) will be £270 GBP, i.e. approximately $350 USD at current exchange rates. (Please note that as the exchange rate fluctuates the exact amount will differ).
Due to the current regulations regarding import duty, a single Tricorder order to the US falls under the “de minimis" rule, so will not incur any import duties (tariffs), although please note that the situation regarding import duties is rather fluid at the moment and might be subject to change.
For other territories, such as Europe, the order may be subject to the corresponding import VAT and duty rate, which Amazon will calculate at the time of ordering."
In the US it will be about $350 plus sales tax and delivery, and if you buy two you will be hit with a 25% tariff :-/Yes.
I simply noted that it won't be £324 for those outside the UK.
m hoping the listing will be a private one. That is, one that won't just appear for just any ol' schmoe running a general search for "tricorder". The newsletter Wand sent today states it will send a link to people who registered for the updates way back when and in general order to the dates they applied. I guess if somebody shared the link with a friend, that second party could access the listing, or if the link got posted publicly, anybody could access the order page.
Does Amazon UK do private listings?yes, thats the plan to my understanding. There is a level of honor system involved.
