Gulp it like Gary

Was the real prop supposed to be a paper cup? I don't suppose it matters if it's going to be de-materialized after use.

Tribble included, but the chicken sandwich is not.

Its pretty cool laura. Yeah its not Styrofoam like the on ship enterprise cups and the circular lip is much thinner but it still looks pretty cool. The insigna is sweet and was only used in the WNMHGB cups. Nice cup for cold drinks. Hot wouldn't work since there is no handle. Nice find.

Just looking at screencaps, it's clear that the originals started life as disposable plastic cups, not Styrofoam. Where Gary's cup is filling itself at the faucet, look at the top rim and inner wall. The cup is too thin to be Styrofoam, and it's a bit shiny.

Super close-up from "Wink of an Eye." There is no way this is a foam cup:

Foam cups would be much too delicate for actors to play scenes with. I used them every day for years before New York State made them illegal, and you have to handle them with care— even for the brief minutes of a normal usage. On top of that, they'd never hold a paint job no matter how delicately you nursed them along.

I'm surprised the folks who researched this to make merch didn't see it! It takes nothing away from their cup; it's just surprising.
