NCIS franchise

Just into season 3, and so far not a huge Ziva fan. Heavily preferred Kate, and have to keep reminding myself it was the actress's decision, and not to be mad at the rest of the show lol.

I have watched probably hundreds of NCIS over the years, but this is the first time I am watching in order, watching full seasons, and actually paying attention to background details.

While I liked Kate, she was boring compared to Ziva. She bought a lot.

Everyone always looks at me funny when I say this, but when it comes to the "girl on the team" my personal favorite is Bishop. Don't get me wrong, I like Kate, Ziva and Knight, but Bishop is the one who gets my vote all the same.

I didn't find her boring. I found the chemistry between the early leads to be natural and unmatched. She fit better and in more realistic ways IMO.

A year or so ago, I was doing a rewatch of the early years of NCIS, and I found myself remembering how much I loved the banter between Kate and Tony. But I also thought Sasha Alexander totally rocked it on Rizzoli & Isles, so that ended up being a good move for her.

I suggest bumping R&I from "eventually" to "soon". I rewatched it for the first time since its original run last fall. It holds up surprisingly well imo.

Anyone else noticing the OG NCIS episodes that have aired in 2025 so far have nothing to do with Navy related crimes? This was even stated directly in the first one to air, the one where they were investigating the murder at the bakery Parker goes to. The next one, the gang wedding one was related military weapons being stolen, but then the one about Kasie's friends being poisoned only really seemed tangentially related to navy stuff while last night's, the Navy officer murdered there was only someone in the wrong place at the wrong time with the rest of the crime not related to Navy or military matters at all, and therefore should have not required NCIS to investigate the matter any further.

I dunno, while it's true the entire NCIS franchise frequently contrives its casts to get involved in matters that don't fall under their jurisdiction, I don't remember so many such episodes being so clustered together like this before.

The resolution of that last Sydney episode was sure hard to follow...

And what the hell was Doc Roy thinking, hugging his friend who'd just been sprayed with frickin' NERVE GAS?

Oh, and on a lighter note, we learn that Doc used to play for my favorite soccer team - Liverpool FC! :techman:

NCIS, Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order: SVU can go on forever. There's an audience that's sticking with them no matter how bad or boring it gets. For budget purposes, it helps that there's a large amount of cast turnover. If Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and Cote de Pablo never left and were still there, that might make them rethink things.

Yea, but the latter has lost the edge in my opinion. NCIS still has decent writing. SVU is treading water there by comparison. It hardly keeps my attention.

And today’s episode too. This is pretty odd
10 years of JAG, 22 of NCIS, 7 of NCIS:NO, 3 of NCIS:Hawa'ii, 11 of NCIS:LA and 2 of NCIS:Syd that's 56 years of Navy Crime and it's not like it the franchise is Law & Order taking the stories from the headlines :)

A bit of a reunion on this week's OG NCIS. Erinn Hayes, who played Palmer's neighbor/love interest previously worked with Brian Dietzen on this short film:

This isn't really a spoiler....anyway, on Sydney, turns out that Blue doesn't know her date of birth. I wonder what's gonna be up with that.

And I love the bit about Rankin:

he knew that he had a listening device implanted in his pacemaker and that he was being blackmailed into doing bad stuff. So to get around that he wrote letters home to his wife. He's looking less and less evil in every appearance. For the first time I find myself hoping he lives.
