Ugh. I thought Bernthal did a good job, but the Punisher is not a character I want to see more of. The first season of his show worked, because it made it clear that what he did was a problem to be solved rather than something heroic, and he overcame it at the end. But the second season threw that away and made the mistake of glorifying his vigilantism, as well as undoing his character growth in season 1 for the purely cynical reason of producing more content. So I'm not comfortable with the idea of doing still more with him as a solo protagonist.

Also, why do we get more Punisher before we get more Jessica Jones or Luke Cage? Priorities, people!

I do pretty much agree with all of this, except that I have to point out our priorities are not Marvel's. Doing the Punisher first is most practical because they already have Jon Bernthal on board. Brad Winderbaum has hinted that we will see all of those characters reintroduced at some point and if they're going to start bringing in more characters from Netflix, the character with the most wide appeal among fandom at large is, like it or not, the Punisher.

Hopefully, this story can set up some kind of larger interconnected story that will draw in the other Netflix characters in their own movie/one shot down the line. That way they can introduce all of these characters without having to do 13 episodes seasons to do it, and doing the Defenders reunion without having to draw the story out over eight episodes.

That reminds me, I still need to watch the Netflix series.

These are not called one short. It would be more accurate to call it a 45-50 minute TV movie.
They need to make these special presentations 90 minutes long, but each one will be shot as a long TV episode and will have a low budget.

I actually still need to watch season 2. I decided not to watch season 2 for pretty much the reasons Christopher pointed out above. Also, I was pissed at Netflix for canceling everything.

Rob Liefield is an idiot with an ax to grind and now joins the same ranks of the pathetic fan boys who call for the firings of Kathleen Kennedy and Alex Kurtzman.

Frankly, season 2 of The Punisher is the one MCU production I wish I could unwatch. Well, Secret Invasion comes close, but that was just incompetent, not outright offensive.

(On top of everything else, I resent The Punisher season 2 for hiring Floriana Lima away from Supergirl so that they had to scuttle the Alex/Maggie romance, yet casting her as a character that was less interesting and less well-served than Maggie had been, so it was really a step down for her -- except in salary, I would imagine.)

What the hell was going on at that afterparty that he's still so pissed off about it?
he wasn't allowed into the party, and at the premiere, Kevin Feige said he didn't recognize him . When he visited the set of Deadpool 3, they were rude to him and made him feel unwelcome. When he argued with people at Marvel in their offices and told them that people at 20th Century Fox were nice to him while he was making the first 2 movies, people at Marvel harshly dismissed him as 'we are not 20th Century Fox', which led him to decide never to work with Marvel again.

The Punisher is a hero. A anti-hero and I love the character for that plus it's good to have variety in the types of characters you tell stories about. Only difference between him and Daredevil,Echo,Luke Cage, Agatha,Wanda,Batman(if looking outside of Marvel) and even Loki who also people who are also vigilantes and in the case of Loki and few others who are flat out villains is he does it the most realistic way a true vigilante would do it and that is instead of magic, fancy martial arts, super strength and bullet proof skin, or amazing tech gadgets is he just flat out uses guns. Next,I would like to see them do their "Joker" and tell a story just from the villains POV. Got plenty of options. Kingpin, Baron Zemo,Mystique, Ape-Man etc.

You mean "he" (Rob Liefeld), right? Your translation software is having pronoun trouble again.

Disappointing, but oddly unsurprising. Sony is fucking weirdly stupid.
