Welp I guess the broccolis lost the upper hand

On the one hand, I do think a new creative lead was a long time coming. Just on principle of bringing in a fresh perspective. And while I’ve enjoyed Barbara Broccoli’s and Michael Wilson’s run, I won’t deny that there have been issues with their Bond movies that should have been rectified a while ago.

On the other hand…it’s Amazon taking full creative control. And I know that one of the big reasons why Broccoli/Wilson were initially resistant was because Amazon wanted to MCU-ify Bond.

I just hope Amazon puts the focus back on classic James Bond storytelling elements. Like the long history of villains that are grossly wealthy, insecure egomaniacs desperate to validate their fragile egos with wild schemes to control the media, governments, and space itself.

God, I hate those people. Do something creative.

When I was a kid, someone told me that there was a Russian Bond movie in which he was the baddie and died at the end. I think it’s an urban myth but that would be a good way to approach an unofficial Bond, IMHO.

Amazon, quite understandably, prioritizes its Prime Video streaming service (witness how the streamer refused to bow to pressure to release its reboot of Road House into theaters last year). Which isn’t to say the company wouldn’t release a Bond movie in theaters — keeping Bond exclusive to Prime Video seems very unlikely, though not impossible.
