Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Now that you mention it, I noticed that trend with a lot of the later Eaglemoss' stands as well. XL Cerritos being top of my list.

The regular/medium sized Cerritos base is a bit off too. It leans a bit to one side.

Mine sits perfectly balanced next to the Vancouver atop my desktop tower workstation. I've even accidentally knocked the desk a couple of times and the Cerritos stayed put. The Vancouver, however, fell forward and needed to be re-seated.

Fortunately never had a ship break on me, even though there’s a number of them which are sitting rather poorly and unbalanced on their stand. The worst that ever happened was the nacelle of a ship not being glued on properly and coming loose in the box. But that’s an easy fix.

The massive size of Ra’s ship (30 cm on each side!) makes me wonder what the biggest model was that Eaglemoss ever did. I mean, image the size of the box this one must come in! It boggles the mind.

I don't know exactly how big Ra's Pyramid model is but, IIRC, the Borg Cube "subscription gift" back when the main line first started was pretty big. Although it was hollow to support lighting, so likely not as heavy as something that's been cast out of solid resin like the pyramid.

I, too, am interested if the underside is designed to fit a standard smaller land-based pyramid. Maybe that's the "base" for the model? :D

Enterprise F, the Raktajino mug, and Okudagram of the Titan A arrived today. I'll post pictures in a bit, but first impressions:

  • Mug is about half the size of the previous eaglemoss mugs, but the logo has a few neat easter eggs (Looking @ you, Mudd)
  • Enterprise F is gorgeous - Impulse engines are unpainted, but anyone should be able to fix with a little patience and red paint. Despite this omission, the model has a lot of nice, fine detail. Model is mostly die cast metal.
  • E-F box has raised, foil lettering on the box lid which gives it a premium look, but otherwise same design as previous releases. Magazine is full of info - didn't realize there was a small captain's yacht looking craft at the ship's aft. (it's there in concept art, I am assuming it is still a part of the ship design and you can kind of make it out on the model?)
  • Okudagram - I was most excited to get my mitts on this, but now that I have it, I must report that it is simply ok - it's basically a small strip of flimsy plastic encased in two pieces of plexiglass material that is held together by four magnets. My okudagram slipped out a bit in shipping, but was able to fix it. You can take the clear case apart to get to the okudagram and/or reposition it. My plexiglass case, despite being sent in a carboard box with bubblewrap, has a few scuffs/scratches/cracks which is unfortunate. However, the Okudagram is mint and undamaged and at the end of it, it was a free gift after all.

Raktajeno mug - 100% colombian and imported by Harcourt Fenton Mudd

Enterprise F in all it's XL, impulse engine-less glory. Now to decide if I put her with the other Enterprises (NX-01, TWOK, ENT-A, ENT-B, ENT-C, ENT-D, ENT-E), or if I put her with the Disco/Picard ships. Leaning towards the latter.

Okudagram of the Titan-A - Fun Fact - There is an opaque film (4 in total) covering each side of the plexiglass you peel off. Otherwise it looks a little "cloudy". Definitely liking this item more than my initial impression, although there is still a small scratch/crack on one piece of the plexiglass.

Put her next to the Enterprise-C. They can be "no impulse" buddies.

I like this and was thinking about putting it on the same shelfProblem is I am running out of space since I found some of my old stuff at my grandparents house we cleaned out.

The easiest option would be to put it after the Lower Decks ships (not pictured.) I was also thinking about building one more shelf to give me more space for the fanhome ships coming out.

The more complicated, but "Ships of the line style" option is to either put it with the Enterprises - either near the ENT-C and find the XL Stargazer a new home, and move anything else that needs to move, OR try to put it down by the ENT-E, move all the TNG movie shuttles, and then pray to the gods it doesnt spill over onto the Expanse/BSG shelf. I could also look at shifting things around, particularly the TOS movie ships, but it will be an effort for sure.

Please ignore the popcorn ceilings. While it was my decision to install shelving in these rooms, it was the previous homeowners to do popcorn ceilings back when building the house.

Photos of the next three Fanhome ships are out; the Luna-class Titan, the Excelsior-II-class Excelsior, and the Dauntless-class Dauntless (the Prodigy one, not the one from VGR).

I know it's the third go for that model, but the clear nacelle grills on the Titan do look nice, it seems like it'll be an upgrade over the previous non-cartoon-colored version.

The Excelsior almost makes me wish I still had a sub (they are opening them back up on 3/10).

But man, another OG Titan, the XL E-G and the butt ugly Dauntless make me glad I won’t be on the hook for ‘em.

They do look nice, especially the Excelsior.

I'm intending to subscribe to get the Titan and then immediately cancel, as it's the only one I want. Does this work ok with Fanhome?

As far as I can tell, they offer a la carte purchases just like EM did (though also with the same frequent out-of-stock listings EM had).

Not yet, though. It says on the Fanhome website that ordering individual models will only be available beginning in April. It’s kind of an odd strategy, but I guess it’s to drive up subscription numbers. (I should add that this is what it says on the version of the site I can see here from Germany. Maybe international versions of the Fanhome site differ?)
