Mileage varies of course, but for my money it's not so rare. Just so long as you discount all those awful "Unrated Cut!" releases that were so popular for a time.

When DVDs were selling like hot cakes, it was common for the studio to put back a couple deleted scenes (whether they were needed or not) so they could sell another cut of the movie.

Actually, it is said that there is another Alien movie in the preparation phase besides Romulus. This could be Romulus 2. Apart from this, it would be nice if the sequel to Covenant was made into a 6-episode FX mini-series with Ridley Scott writing and directing each episode, starring Michael Fassbender, and the story ended.

I've been googling for 10 minutes, because I'm 99% sure both directors commented on both of them making a movie. And I'm pretty sure I also posted that link earlier in this thread.

ridley scott alien romulus also producer there mentioned romulus 2.

The Narcissus is in the movie, Ripley was gone for so long because they captured her! (Confirmed by the director, who reasoned if they find the remains of the Nostromo, they can certainly find an escape shuttle with a beacon)

And then it is seen being ejected at the end of the movie. Fede's reasoning is stupid IMO. Ripley's shuttle being lost in space for 57 years makes more sense than it being lost right next to an occupied world for 37 years.

In my mind, that's just another Narcissus-type vehicle, and I hope the next movie doesn't make that head canon impossible. ;)

And while we're on it, why/how was the Alien right next to big chunks of Nostromo wreckage anyway? The Narcissus escaped the explosion of the Nostromo, which then went off like a mofo. And then the Alien was ejected into space.

And somehow the Alien and the wreckage came to a stop at exactly the same place?

In Prometheus, there were Xenomorph images on the walls of the engineers' planet. David probably didn't create the Xenomorph.

So the story there is not completely ignored.
Earlier scripts of Covenant (as well as the novelization, and, IIRC, the production-art tie-in) were explicit that David was trying to recreate an existing creature (I think of it as trying to breed a wolf from dogs), but Scott decided to make it more ambiguous and imply David invented the Xenomorph in the final cut.

I vote the Cindy Brady theory. ''Maybe it was magic!''
