...But... How exactly is Sam not like Steve Rogers? Or Natasha Romanoff? Why can he ping pong the shield around like he's Clint Barton?...
^^^
It's one of the ending sequences of the D+ The Falcon and the Winter Solder. Sam finally accepts Steve's shield and they have a few sequences showing him teaching himself and learning how to use it in the same way Steve Rogers did.

This film is a direct sequel to that series.

Right. i remember that. But that implies that one can be taught to use the shield like Steve did (and rather quickly) without Erskine's formula.

For non-enhanced humans we have the examples of Barton and Romanoff. Romanoff's training was rather... Involved. And lengthy. And Barton is one of those "Just has this amazing ability" kind of comic book people, right? Also not picked up over the course of a mini series.

I didn't need Sam to be Steve 2. I did need him to keep being Sam and I'm not sure this movie managed that.

Seems like the press REALLY wants to continue with "It's ANOTHER MCU Flop..." angle, but can't really make it fit into that mold just yet. If anything less then 1+ Billion is now considered an MCU flop, the MCU is going to have a lot of flops.

It's also interesting to see them going with the - "Well, the early MCU films besides the original Iron Man didn't do so well, but that was before the MCU 'took off". (Warner Brothers has tossed out and went for a complete DCFU retooling after 3 flops; and was really upset when Batman V Superman ONLY made $875 million and was shocked when only Aquaman crossed the 1+ Billion box office barrier.)

Yeah, by those metrics there were 3 MCU flops prior to Marvel's The Avengers and Captain America And the Winter Soldier <--- Still my personal favorite MCU film, did 'just okay' at 700+ million worldwide.

Both Disney and Marvel spending like and expecting every outing to break 1+ Billion at the Box Office is just ridiculous.

The current MCU films overall are way better than when we were getting stull like David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury and the rubber suited Captain America stuff in the 90s. And yeah there HAVE been some real stinkers inn the MCU, but this latest offering ain't one of those. (YMMV of course.)

Expecting everything from the MCU to be on par with the worldwide favorites of Infinity War and Endgame is (IMO) ridiculous, and if that's going to be the critics metric for everything going forward from the MCU, yeah, maybe Disney should end it all now.

I'm a HUGE Fantastic Four as it was my favorite comic as a kid and got me into the Marvel Universe in a big way, and it's the MCU I've been looking forward to since Disney re-acquired all the rights Marvel licensed to 20th Century FOX, but even I don't think that film will break the 1+ Billion barrier as yeah, audiences EXPECT decent comic book adaptations now, and while the FF was a big part of my growing up, Marvel cancelled the series for a long time so among the coveted 18-35 crowd with the 18 crowd being 1 year old when the first MCU Iron Man film appeared - yeah, I think MCU's FF should do well, but it won't break 1+ Billion at the BO - and if I'm wrong I'll be happy as that means Disney will want to make a sequel FF 2 sooner than later.

I don't think it was due to the Super Soldier serum that Steve Rodgers got so good with that shield; I tend to go with Spider Man's observation of - "That shield doesn't obey the laws of physics..." ;)

In 'real life' no one should be able to wield that shield the way Cap (any version) does without telekinesis of magic.

From everything I've seen, it looks like it'll end up somewhere near the middle of the pack.

Nothing bad, but nothing amazing.

But given the competition, I think it's going to do "Okay...".

Vibranium seems to make the Captain America's Disk Shield act more like a flying Pin-Ball than what normal physics would imply.

He's really good at pool. Cyclops is another pool player.

"Captain America: Brave New World" made $20 million less than "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" over the 4-day weekend.

"Captain America: The First Avenger" made $65 million over the first weekend in 2011. Adjusted for inflation that is $91 million.
"Captain America: Brave New World" made $88 million over the first weekend.

On Rotten Tomatoes, CA:BNW seems to be getting a B/C rating from the Audience while the critics absolutely trashed it.
It shows you how different the Audience/Critics sees things.

B

Saw it this morning and enjoyed it. Definitely not the best of the Marvel lot, but I'm glad I saw it in the theater. I hope Giancarlo Esposito comes back in a future film.

Ant-Man 3 had tons of extra boosts from starring "Proven" heroes in the form of Scott and Hope and the Pyms and for being Kang's big movie debut. It didn't have the smear campaign against it this movie did.

So this movie costing a lot less and not having those boosts, it's success thus far is a good thing.

No, ‘Brave New World' Budget Isn’t $180M; It Actually Cost $380M

Joanna Robinson and Dave Gonzalez who probably wrote the most extensive and essential MCU book out there (“MCU: The Rise of Marvel Studios”) and have some of most well-sourced and legit Marvel sources, are not willing to be part of Disney’s ‘Brave New World’ spin.

Robinson and Gonzalez have been told that overruns and reshoots drove the ‘Brave New World’ budget to $380M. With marketing costs added in, it’ll basically be impossible for the film to turn in a profit.

‘Brave New World’ had originally wrapped filming in June 2023, and was set for a July 2024 release date, but it’s now turned into this monstrous mess for Marvel. You just don’t push a movie this big out of your calendar, and then decide to dump it in February, unless major trouble is brewing.

Back in December, Matthew Orton was hired by Marvel to pen “additional scenes and material”. Orton’s work is being shot in this latest 4-month bout of additional photography, taking place in Atlanta. They’ve also added new characters to the story. It’s all amounting to what could be a catastrophic disaster for the mouse house. Will audiences even show up to a Captain America movie that doesn’t star Chris Evans?

‘Brave New World’ already had a budget of $275M before reshoots began. Now a contact, deeply indebted in the current ‘Brave New World’ reshoots, is telling me that these reshoots are said to cost Disney/Marvel anywhere between $75-100M, they tell me, “It’s like they’re shooting a brand new movie.”

I'm glad I wasn't spoiled for the cameos. I kinda wish I hadn't known about Sterns going in. I did like Sterns turning Ross into the one thing he hates most.

I think Sam was very much himself in this. He showed the growth from F&WS, but kept his distrust of Ross, then was able to move past that and talk Ross down. I'll be interested seeing Sam try to rebuild the Avengers.

‘CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD’ opens with $192.4M worldwide. It is the third highest opening for a Captain America movie
Well, that's not that exactly something to brag about when there have only been 3 Captain America movies. That's still a pretty good opening, but even a good third place out of three is still the bottom.
It occurs to me that any recast of Wolverine for the MCU would have to have the adamantium added to his skeleton much later in his life than the comics would indicate.
If the Sacred Timeline even has a Wolverine. So far they seem to be setting up the X-Men as being from another universe.

World of Reel, not valid. You may as well bring up "I heard it from a friend of a friend of mine".

They openly admit in those articles there's no real proof and no names for their "sources".

Seriously, you fell for the Smear Campaign

Bit of an easy mark.
