What's with all the Earth-specific starship names in Starfleet?

Which is why @Shamrock Holmes said what he said. Or that was my interpretation, anyway.

Not what I meant (though I agree with the principle).

What I meant is that having a class of ship that is specifically (re)designed to be a propulsion test bed be named after a test pilot and the individual names following the general theme makes sense.

But having multiple classes of general service ships -- particularly those where the individual names don't -- have a single theme is stupid IMO.

None that I'm aware of, certainly not within such a narrow and specific grouping of people for so many different classes at once.
