Tricorder smart phones are an ABOMINATION to this franchise and rather BLATANTLY PISSES ALL OVER GENE'S VISION. If ever there was proof that the franchise needs STAR TREK LEGACY under the stewardship of the LORD TERRY MATALAS this is it.

Check out my YouTube video, where all the RANDOM CAPITALIZED AND BOLDED WORDS are depicted as me raising my voice to different pitches.

Me too. She was probably the best part about the whole movie, IMO. If anything positive comes out of this thing, it would be a Garrett spin-off showing her rise through the officer cadre, to her eventual assignment to the E-C. I think she could easily do it. Start the series with her leaving S31 behind, symbolic of the franchise leaving S31 behind.

Honestly, I would not have a problem with seeing more Garrett, Alok and Quasi. Zeph too actually, if they could make him less ridiculous looking... and dead.

The casting was not the issue with this film and I think this group could shine with better writers and direction in a story that had nothing to do with Section 31.
I would give the cast a second chance too, as they were simply given wobbly material to work with. But, I don't think they'd drop the Section 31 aspect at this point.

They could flip the story on its head and have Alok and Quasi being seconded to the Starship that Garrett was third officer on. On a "need-to-know", sort of thing.

I kinda wondered about the significance of Zeph’s name. I thought it was maybe a shortened version of Zephram?

"Sigh?" She was easily the best thing about this movie. Granted, that's not a high bar.
I believe (but could be wrong!) they are sighing at the specific detail that she was Rachel Garrett rather than the actor or performance. Though those things may or may not be sigh-worthy too. ;)

(I for one liked her for the most part, slightly less so during the climax, and then not at all in the final scene.)
