The only explanation that would fix that episode is that an ancient Greek god was controlling them by telepathy for the amusement of the Metrons, the Excalbians, and... I dunno.... Harry Mudd.

Thanks for the heads up, now I know not to use the spoiler box in it's already in the title
Unless of course you‘re going to mention something from a production that‘s been released less than six months ago and not the dedicated topic of the thread at hand. Then spoiler code is the thing to use. :)

S31 has its own time issues, like what happened to San for 70 some years.
My feeling is the explanation was cleaved in some draft when they were condensing this down into a movie. Ultimately, they wanted San to be the antagonist at the end to give Georgiou personal stakes, but didn't want to sweat the details of how exactly the time difference made sense. Also, why was he alone? He's supposed to be the vanguard for the Emprie's invasion of our universe. There was plenty of room on that ship. Why would you send a single operative to retrieve the Godsend?

The other thing the movie is absolutely shit at explaining is what does the Godsend explosion actually do at the end? Did it only close the portal? Did it go through the portal and take out part of the Milky Way in the Mirror Universe while closing the portal?

Just one line of dialogue from a character saying what probably happened would have helped.

Also, Georgiou is holding the Godsend when it goes off. Putting aside the idea that they could be beamed out when they're right next to the explosion, usually when someone is transported whatever they're holding comes with them (e.g., Data holding the Varon-T disruptor at Fajo when he's beamed aboard). Did she drop it at the last second?
