What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Yeah, talk to me about every time in a movie or show that someone has gotten tapped on the head hard enough to be knocked unconscious as some kind of "nature's pause button". This way the good guys don't have to kill someone or be killed as part of the plot. Then they wake up rubbing their head and wanting an aspirin like they're just a little hung over rather than being hospitalized.

Then we can argue about wizard laser swords.

Let's see. In the TOS episode 'Arena ', the Metrons were a thousand years ahead of the Federation. In Star Trek: Discovery, the Federation is now in the catbird's seat.

Why wasn't it more advanced?

The actual line is

METRON: Very good, Captain. There is hope for you. Perhaps in several thousand years, your people and mine shall meet to reach an agreement. You are still half savage, but there is hope. We will contact you when we are ready.

So, more than just 1,000 years. And, apparently, the Metrons are not yet ready.

The cancellation was a formality as far as the actors were concerned - the writing was on the wall from early in the third year.

A director returning from an earlier season said that it was hard to keep a third-year shoot on schedule because between set-ups the actors would disappear to make phone calls to their agents.

The Metrons probably watched "Extreme Measures" and decided we might get there eventually but weren't ready yet.

So how do we confirm that a character is "Dead"?

There are so many ways to escape what would normally IRL be considered "Death" within Star Trek / Star Wars.

We saw a Section 31 agent "Sloan" escape "Certain Vaporization" by 'Romulan Disruptor' via 'Split-Second Transporter' escape to disguise the vaporization.

There are only a few ways left that I can think of:
1) is "Be-Heading" a person. There's really no coming back from that.
2) Turning a person into "Chunky Salsa", we saw Seven do to that horrible women in ST:PIC S1 to attain vengeance for losing her family member.
