Surely something good happened to you today

I was at Wal-Mart and the item I needed was on the very top shelf. It was about 2 - 3 feet above my reach. A guy stopped by and offered to help. He climbed up on a shelf and snagged the item for me. He shouldn't have done the dangerous maneuver, but it was nice of him to help a stranger.

My store manager informed me today that I needed to use up my PTO or lose it by the end of the month, so, he's giving me every Friday off for the rest of the month, starting tomorrow. I'm going to be working four days, getting paid for five and I get a three day weekend.

Couple of items.
One - the store was number three in same day turnaround in servicing vehicles.
Two - the store was number one in servicing Fleet vehicles/accounts last year.
Three - even though the store fell short of $2 million in sales by a couple of thousand dollars, the store was still number one in total sales for the year, which is the second best a store has ever done. The number two store in sales was over $500,000 behind.

Went to the local used bookstore which had just reopened in a new, larger space! It was great and one of the proprietors helped me find the next 3 books in the series I just started. I ended up with 4 books and a doohickey that holds your book open while you read and eat a sandwich that requires both hands.
I like doohickies.

are you by chance living in a place where angry people 'clean up' local libraries?

No, I live in an itty bitty city and readers seem to be in the minority. Not to mention that libraries don't keep older books on the shelves like they used to.
