I don't agree. I liked that we got to see her actually be a Captain. We got one season with her as an inexperienced Captain (Season 4) and one season as a somewhat more experienced Captain (Season 5).
It's also part of why I want Legacy, to see Seven as Captain. "They're the Captain! The End," isn't really my type of thing.
I wish we had a DSC Season 6, so we could see Burnham working under Kovich more directly. Like she's moving up in the world.

Completed my rewatch of Season 4. I remember why I never finished it the first time. The 10c aliens very Trek but the constant emotional handwringing of the crew and its captain, while trying to save everyone, very unprofessional. If it was real life, everyone would be dead and species 10C would be the riches miners in the galaxy.

Exactly why I could never take this crew seriously as Starfleet officers. No real professionalism.
At this point, Disco's gonna Disco. That's basically the Michelle Paradise special.
I've been lurking here for months and have finally decided to join in order to discuss Star Trek in general and DSC in particular.
I've watched all the new Trek, including DSC, in 2024 for the first time. It's wonderful. I was unprepared for how much I'd enjoy the series. Wading through criticisms of the series is ongoing. This website is one of the only places I can find serious, reputable discussion of it and I wanted to thank many here posting for your contributions.

I've enjoyed Commander Richard's artwork for DSC episodes. Those threads are wonderful to read through. I didn't contribute to those threads but read many DSC episode comments posted here. I'm unhappy now that the DSC series has ended and no new episodes are being aired.
Listened to the Tron: Legacy soundtrack today and was struck by how the Overture sounds damn near identical to Discovery's opening theme for a bit!

Successfully, although in the succeeding years their secession was succeeded in succession to successful reunification.

Burnham is a more realistic version of Kirk. It's one reason some old fanboys hate her, they instinctively know this.
Both flout Starfleet conventions, both mutineed, but Burnham had to climb her way back and prove herself.
Burnham has more realistic flaws for a bright, accomplished officer. She has finely honed skills, but clearly has some issues based on upbringing and predilections. Yes, they both have a hero and savior complex. Burnham acknowledges this.
In Discovery, she's less than 2 years into a new captaincy, she has plenty of time to become one of the best.

Of all the series Discovery looks best in the best presentation, which is why I'm so picky about it. If you watch on a tablet, laptop, or small TV you're not really getting the full effect.His should be ...

I've got a 70" mounted on a wall that I watch, I just wish DISCOVERY'S Sp-FX were more consistently impressive instead of a muddy mess.

Never. He did a lot of sketchy and questionable things in uniform but mutiny? Not once.
