52 US states by 2033

So, the Irish reunification and the Bell Riots haven't happened yet. The next Trek milestone?

According to Data, the number of stars on the American flag changed to 52 between 2033 and 2079. Whether this means there are two new(ly recognized as) states between now and 2033, or that some non-state territories also have stars, who knows?

With all this talk of Greenland and Canada joining the US...

Here's hoping the 51st and 52nd states are Puerto Rico and DC... Or maybe California finally gets split up.

Guam is another possibility. I never thought it might come from states splitting, or that some places might secede from the US and others might join - I just assumed all the current states would remain states, and add two more.

For the record, it is never stated whether both stars were added in 2033, or if they were added one at a time, one in 2033 and one sometime in between 2024-2032.

In addition, A Flag Full of Stars claims there are 56 stars on the US flag by 2271, while The Final Reflection declares Cibola to be a state.

Also, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" states that Canada is no longer known by that name as of the 23rd century.

Given PR and DC would lean Democrat, Republicans are doing everything they can to avoid giving them statehood.
