Creating Trek slang

I could see "Pakled" getting thrown around as an insult for dumb (in a more insulting way, like if somebody were to use the not-acceptable term "retarded" today)

*somebody says/does something stupid
"Wow, are you a Pakled?"

We know there is a racial slur for Cardassians, Spoonheads. Ferengi definitely use "hew-mon" as a slur, and Andorians "pink skin"... which is like, astonishingly racist on a few levels. I wonder if there are other slurs out there?

Given McCoys penchant for insulting Spock, i'm not sure humans ever came up with a particularly good slur for Vulcans... OR there might be some actually offensive ones that McCoy didn't use because he wasn't really being mean spirited to Spock. That's actually more likely...

I KNOW humans have a slur for Klingons. I'm curious about that one.

So did "Nova" mean beautiful, insane, or a bit of both?

I think "Nova" would be like, someone who inhabits a precarious positions on the Hot/Crazy chart.

Am I the only one thinking Nova should be someone who shines dimly for a while and then brightly for a while in a cycle?

I thought of this one years ago, planned to use it in a fanfiction story I haven't gotten around to writing yet:

Janewaying: Giving a promotion to someone who hasn't gone through the usual expected steps towards the rank; especially a promotion to a department head, and especially with an individual of questionable background.

Examples:

"She had no background in psychology. But after getting joined to Dax, Ezri was Janewayed up to the position of Counselor."

"Captain Jack Ransom went ahead and Janewayed both Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler up to the joint position of dual First Officers."

"....as a last resort, we can always just Janeway up some ex-Maquis or teen prodigies or something."

"Starfleet is short on officers, so for this mission we're going to have to bring on a few.... unconventional field commissions. Hand out some provisional ranks. A Janewaying we shall go!"

Certainly reminds me of a popular 2009 movie where one dude was Janewayed-and-a-half.

Not so much “slang”, but more euphemistically;

“It’s these crystals…”

Used to make an excuse…
like,
“there was a hole in my glove”,
or,
“The sun was in my eyes…”

What are some slang terms that could exist in Trek?

Oidness - One's similarity to other types of species. So, a humanoid would have a high degree of oidness, whereas a creature whose biology was shared by only three known species would have little oidness.
In that case I'd complain that the species in the interstellar void are far too oid.

I think it could be argued it could also mean the opposite : not giving a capable and loyal officer a promotion when it really should be due (Kim).
