I can understand it... Even if sometimes I have hard time believe such people are interested in Star Trek. After all, Star Trek i about keeping an open mind to things... alien to us.

Okay... You're getting fired up. Time to step away for a bit I think. And your rude, toxic comments abot Kes are of no interest for me.
I find them insulting, filled of hate and not constructive at all.
Not so much off limits as it was just getting to the point that nearly every thread was getting some injection of the Kim not getting promoted topic for a time. Your point had been made and there's not going to be any changing of your opinion on the matter. Just like Lynx here with Kes. At some point we have to move on from banging that drum or we get caught in a temporal causality loop to technobabble this up. The drum can get banged sometimes though.Rather depressing that the moderators effectively rendered the subject off-limits.
They certainly do.Star Trek fans come from all walks of life and ideologies.
I didn't really have issue with the moderators asking me not to inject the topic into other conversations... I was a moderator elsewhere, and sometimes I had to ask people to stay on topic. But then they closed the topic dedicated to the subject. Not so much off limits as it was just getting to the point that nearly every thread was getting some injection of the Kim not getting promoted topic for a time. Ye, maybe it's not logical but I just didn't like her when she she returned. But she's not human, she's Ocampan, and given her character arc, wouldn't that be walking it backwards?
Re-read what I posted. I expressed my opinion that the character of Kes was poorly conceived and boring, and that the overall narrative along with the development of another character were better served by her elimination. There was nothing personal or hateful in what I wrote about a fictional character on a science-fantasy TV show. And your rude, toxic comments abot Kes are of no interest for me.

Yes.Your opinion.
No.And your loss.

That you chose to take my words as some sort of personal insult when you were never mentioned at all is your problem, not mine.
It really kind of is, for me. I’m not interested in watching new Trek try to “fix” older Trek. I want new, engaging characters and ideas.
Yes, this obsession with numbers is a really tiresome thing. This only proves that people there have problems with thinking from points of view other than their own.
To these people, I have one thing to say: ask how human relationships would look like from point of view of aliens that mature slower than humans, like Vulcans, Elves or Yoda's species. Would, accoridng to you, relationship between two humans that are 20 and 30 years old (or something like that) be wrong? Or, from another side, would a relationship between 20 years human (who is a full adult) and a 20 years old Vulcan (which, if I remember corrrectly, is a teenager, althought I can be mistaken) be all right just because nnumbers matches)?
I think the reason is simple. Either it's just an excuse or they were too focused on Seven to think about Kes. Or both.
For me, and I'm speaking for myself alone, a Kes episode was like a Lisa episode from The Simpsons or a Meg episode from Family Guy... largely forgettable. For a large portion of the audience, I simply don't think they created an engaging enough character to keep around. They should have axed Garrett Wang at the same time.
I wouldn't have made a Kes return episode to begin with. She underwent some sort of ascension in her final episode and, in my opinion, that was all the conclusion the character needed.
One of the problems with the premise of Voyager is that they couldn't very effectively pick up storylines from earlier in the series. Even the Talaxian colony they left Neelix at was a bit of a ass-pull.
Of course if I had my way Kes would have stayed on the show and Kim would have been booted off the show to make room for Seven.
No, I overall think you're right. But I also recognize what most people think when you say "two-year-old", i.e. small person with limited cognitive skills who is probably still in diapers. So, I can see where the idea of Neelix and Kes dating would bother some viewers.
You're right about that.Okay... You're getting fired up. Time to step away for a bit I think.

They certainly do.
Wanna add, Kes was a good example for people who suddenly get superpowers and can't handle it because it's just too much and they are overstrained.
I find it hard to understand your opinion in that case. Not to mention that it's terribly wrong.
If opinions can be wrong, could it not possibly be the case that your opinion is wrong?I find it hard to understand your opinion in that case. Not to mention that it's terribly wrong.
Nothing about my critique of the character Kes or the way the writers treated her was hateful, insulting, or "nasty." Just because you disagree with my opinion doesn't make it so.I never took it as any personal insult.
But I think that your comments were a bit nasty, to say the least.
People can consider opinions of others wrong. I mean, there are things that are based on that.
You can have your opionins. I just don't agree with them.
Dislike of Kes as a character isn't new at all, even in the slightest, though it seems to be new to you. From the very first story she appeared in back in, she simply didn't work for me for all the reasons I, @BillJ, and the others have already covered.I must add, it really seems that all this Kes hate is a relatively new thing. When I read materials made during original Voyager run, people generally like Kes there (even fans of Seven of Nine).
Well, there were three threads about Kes and Jennifer Lien all started around the same time. Inevitably with Kes threads the discussion all kind of goes down this path. You're correct in that this particular thread is for discussion about what you would have done differently than TPTB did with Kes' return. We should get back to that and move the Kes and Seven discussion here.So a lot of comments here are really off-topic.
