Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

It's actually more than just that. Their job is to convey the sense of intimacy on the screen. Not just about making the actors comfortable but making it feel like these people truly have a relationship. Yes, that involves making the actors more comfortable but there's a lot more to it too.

Odd. That used to be down to acting skills, and general filmmaking/storytelling.

Well if you count Huw Edwards, three is several.

Gah. Perhaps it’s just my inner pedant, but even with Huw, that’s just few. (Poetry!)
Several is… more than five.
Though, opinions my differ, I had just assumed there was some I hadn’t heard of (or that we were counting things like Birkoff being difficult) that had come to light.

Has anything come of the Noel Clark thing, is it linked to Who, or still just at smoke stage?
It’s quite shocking some of the stuff alleged (and extremely well known… there’s a song featuring Tennant and Tate singing about Barrowman penis antics — though Barrowman was *known* to be like that in the late nineties and around the millennium already. Anyone even tangential to the West End Theatres had heard.) under the RTD era, and am quite sure he is going to currently be on his shiniest best behaviour to try and wipe some of the grime off anything that may affect his reputation.

Both tweets are the same, so no preview of the Sea Devils themselves.

That said, I do love Moffat's idea of a hotel in the future that utilizes time travel to occupy vacant rooms in the past.

Another curious nugget: Davies was originally going to write the special and began a draft but then asked Moffat to work on his own idea. So what was Davies' draft going to be about? Will we see it in the future or will it be forever cast away in the dustbin of the past?

The pics I've seen don't look like traditional Sea Devils, but it's entirely possible they're not and are just generic fish people who are either working with, or victims of, the Sea Devils.

I wonder if Moffat will stick to the Christmas special being his last Who?

I also wonder at what point RTD will hang up his pen (re Who, I don't expect him to stop writing)

People are suggesting it’s more of an Underwater Menace situation.

Which is very interesting. Maybe there’s no Sea Devils or Silurians at all. (Otherwise the title could imply civil war… maybe the UNIT troops are peacekeepers.)

It seems strange they would change the Sea Devil's so drastically after we just saw ones that looked just like the original versions during the last pre-D+ season.

Yeah, and as a lot of people online have said, it's a really good design as well. As has been said could be fish people, could be a Sea Devil genetic experiment, or even a human genetic experiment. Who knows, maybe the reason there's a war between land and sea is because one side is genetically altering it's people to survive on land/in the sea (delete as applicable)
We all know he won't.

Moffat lies! Actually I think he means it, but I also think he'll have an idea in a couple of years that he just has to write (assuming RTD or whoever is show running lets him)

The Sea Devils look like that because one of the main plots of the series is Russell Torvey's human character falling in love with Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Sea Devil character.

Of course if Davies was truly a progressive person he'd have had him fall in love with an OG Sea Devil instead of a sexy fish woman.

I wonder if they'll address the change?

It's addressed to "The folk who complained about the Doctor and Clara's coffee cups having different amounts of drink left in different takes (breaking visual continuity), AT The Larches, Pendant Lane Is In My Ears And In My Eyes, OH GOD MY EYES!!!!"

Basically what I meant. He might genuinely believe he's done with this coming special, but in a few years something will happen to lure him back and we'll get at least one more episode.

Plus I wouldn't be surprised if BBC or Disney tries to go after Moffat to take over after RTD decides to leave again and Moffat succumbs to their pressure.
