The Next Generation ended in 1994. Later that year, we got Generations followed by First Contact in 1996, Insurrection in 1998, and finally Nemesis in 2002. I remember that the plan was for Nemesis to either be the TNG finale or lead into a 5th film which would definitely be the TNG finale. I also remember fans wanting a Q-centric movie before TNG came to an end. Fast forward 20 years later, and we got the Picard series. The first two seasons playing out as a spin-off (Picard post-TNG), the final season playing out as TNG S8.
I remember feeling that PIC S3 effectively made up for being robbed of that 5th film. 20 years later, we got a 10-hour serial instead of a 2-hour film. Not a bad trade off. Everyone's old and fat, but they got an extra 8 hours to tell their final story. We got that Q story everyone wanted in the form of PIC S2, but with a lot of WTF and CSI: Picard going on.
Do you see any other elements of the Picard show that fans were wanting back when the movies were happening in the 90's?
