Charlie Jade

Lost works because they won't give you answers. They're stringing us along.

Have you been watching it lately? They're giving us so many answers that I'm worried it's going to get boring because they've still got the rest of this season and two more to go! Ah yes, we're never satisfied. :D

Flatland sounds interesting but ideas come and go all the time. That one probably fell into the same black hole as Beyond, A House Divided, 99 Stories and all those other intriguing show concepts.

And as much I'd like to see Charlie Jade I'd like to see the similary structured Flatland more.

Never heard of it before. The article mentions it as a future production... to air in spring of 2002. So what exactly happened to this show?

The season was filmed but for some odd reeason that I haven't been able to figure out it didn't make it's way to television as far as I know, but some of the eps. were available for download but that's not even available anymore.

“I am delighted that SCI FI has agreed to acquire Charlie Jade,” said Jim Howell, the CEO of Park Entertainment. “Since the show was made, the Internet has been abuzz with enquires about when the series will be shown on television in the U.S. and available on DVD and to download. I am pleased to say that sci-fi fans will not have to wait much longer!”

yeah I heard about that last week . . . still no mention of airdates etc . . . maybe Fall?

Seeing as it hasn't aired in the U.S. yet, expect them to label it as a Sci-Fi Original Series.

I read www.scifi.com/scifiwire pretty regularly - was this announced there? Being Skiffy's official news site, it should have been.

^^I'm not sure this is official news, because, as you've noted, this should have made news at the channel's own site, and it hasn't.
I am pleased to say that sci-fi fans will not have to wait much longer!”
Scifi is in lower case here, so it sounds more like the comment was made about sci fi fans not having to wait, rather than Sci Fi viewers having not long to wait.

That specific portion of the quote may say "sci-fi," but the article itself specifically states Sci-Fi Channel at the very beginning. Also, the first half of that quote says:
"I am delighted that SCI FI has agreed to acquire Charlie Jade[.]"
Apparently, the showrunner himself has also indicated Sci-Fi will air the series.

I'd rather they spend their money picking up Jericho and paying for some new episodes. If Charlie Jade's any good, it will be on DVD sooner or later. Why waste timeslots that way? Timeslots should be used to fund new shows.

Charlie jade is new to most people in the U.S. If anything, "destination truth" "ghost hunters" and wrestling are wasted timeslots but CJ is a great show and deserves to be shown.

not that I'd mind them picking up Jericho of course:techman:

The problem with waiting for a DVD release is that it wasn't coming. The owners of the show were not going to O.K. a North American DVD until after it had aired in the U.S. Fans of the show have been waiting for this for years.

A lot of people might not get the show's direction, its a complex one, has a strange pace and its a show viewers might need to see from its start, but there is great material in this series and I think Charlie Jade will be able to find its own audience

I don't expect it to have universal appeal, unfortunately. its one of those things that appeal to certain tastes.

I agree with both of you. Both in that it won't have universal appeal; but also that the show will find an audience. ;) But, essentially, if at the end of the first episode you have no idea what's going on but like the atmosphere... stick around. :)
