I'm good with that. Excellent cast that was let down by terrible execution of decent ideas. Just a shame that it'll probably the only time we'll get to see Olivia Colman (who is a massive MCU fan) and Emilia Clarke and the last time we'll see Ben Mendelsohn in the MCU.
I think one of the biggest problems with the show was that it wasted such a great cast.

One issue of course is they only had 6 episodes. Also Maria Hill not being a major character was a mistake. Fury and she have made for a great team over the years in just little moments and to me they along with of course Coulson. Also people want Fury to be a badass. Not a broken down over the hill man. So we should see lots of moments where he gets out of obstacles by simply being more clever than the bad guys he is going up against.

How you can get Sam Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Emilia Clarke in one cast and still bore the audience just baffles me.

Actors need good material and good direction. If the writers, producers, and directors don't give them good marching orders, there's only so much they can do.

I think having Fury a broken down old man was - far and away - the best narrative choice. You want your protagonist to start a story on the back foot, as it adds tension to the outcome. Something like John Wick is only really palatable in small doses, and would be boring with overexposure.

The main issue with the story is they had a great setup for a paranoid spy thriller, what with shapechanging aliens and Nick Fury, and completely squandered it. I realize it was likely for budgetary reasons, but it was weird as hell that the Skrull kept to one, and only one, face 95% of the time, and the one imposter who meant anything on the show (Rhodey) was revealed so early. They could have played around so much with Fury not knowing who to trust due to anyone having the potential to be an imposter!

And Secret Invasion just wasn't interesting material aside from the revelation about Don Cheadle, and even that was handled in less-than-exciting fashion because the framing story was so mediocre.

Agatha is pretty good. It's limited I suppose in that I don't think it will add much to MCU overall except maybe if we see Wanda's kids in a Young Avengers story but in the end I got to say that isn't a big deal. If a tv show or movie is fun to watch then that is more important than world building.

Tell that to the insufferable 'fans' who constantly complain about not enough connections (and also those complaining about too many). This fandom irritates me a lot

The hilarious thing is that if Gi'ah had been Jean Grey or Rogue, no one would complain she was "overpowered".

I'd complain because Jean is a boring character imo

Problem is he was broken down from the start. I feel like he should be put through the ringer and loose a lot along the way. HIll dies but much later and towards the end. He fails to stop a massive attack that leaves a big city completely destroyed. He wins in the end but has to go back into space because he has no place on Earth anymore. But he was able to stop the Skrulls and rescue Rhodes. Wouldn't have did anything about good Skrulls wanting a home. Saw no need to follow up the Captain Marvel movie because that stuff was never all that interesting. That's why Rhodes as a Skrull would have been the main bad guy and also why they couldn't call in the Avengers for help because you don't know how many of them are also compromised or could be compromised because many of them would still trust Rhodes if you didn't have proof he was a Skrull.

"...I have a reputation for ruining things."

If they only followed the comics somewhat, like they did back in the day lol.

Tom Holland had some more to say:

Holland said “one of the challenges” is making sure the solo Spider-Man adventure fits “into that timeline at the right time to benefit the bigger picture” of Marvel, but he expressed excitement about being let into the creative process of the MCU. It’s a benefit he doesn’t take lightly—in fact, he’s been channeling the character’s famous motto, that “with great power comes great responsibility.” Originally, he explained, he had a six-picture deal that put him “at the beck and call of Marvel and Sony, and proudly so, it’s been the best experience of my life. I’m now at a juncture where I can say no. And now that I’ve been afforded that power, I am struggling to figure out what is the right thing to do.”
He went on, “It’s meant I’ve had to put my foot down in certain instances, which I haven’t been allowed to do in the past.” Navigating this leverage has been tricky, but Holland is in a place where he can choose the best thing for himself—and the character—rather than the best thing for the studio. “I don’t want to make another movie for the sake of making it.”

Given Sony's track record of putting out movies with garbage scripts, not to mention Marvel Studios' recent shakiness, I say good for him.

So it seems they aren't going to do a clean break from the old cast if Zendaya was also reading the script. I am guessing we will get Ned back as well. With people memories erased I actually wondered if the would just bring in a whole new supporting cast to surround the character in basically the next phase of his development. I do hope they also bring back Jameson again but I think it would be nice if they just left it at those 3 and then bring in a new slew of characters. Maybe the MCU version of Mary Jane and Harry Osborn. Also Miles Morales. How about Mister Negative and Black Cat as the main villains?

I am going to guess that there will be some kind of Spidey reset at the end of Secret Wars. Do we know when Spider-Man 4 will be released? I'm guessing it will be between the next two Avengers movies.
