The Enterprise-B ornament from Hallmark (GEN 30th Anniversary)

So I got the Enterprise B ornament today and the deflector dish does not have a light up feature! The product description is a lie! The placement of the battery compartment is right behind the deflect dish, making it impossible to have it lit up. The impulse engines are no longer lit, so the light up feature of this ornament is pretty lame. The color placements are off as well, no red for any of the impulse engines. No color for the now unlit deflector dish. While the collectors and the top of the nacelles do lit up, the usually grey nacelle coils are not painted either.

The name and registry are properly colored and they tried to put in the little names within the red stripes on the sides of the secondary hull. Overall, it’s a pretty lazy effort, comparing the other Enterprise ornaments before.

But I am glad that my Federation Starship Enterprise ornament collection is finally complete up to Picard. From TV to Refit, A, B, C, D & E. I even have the Kelvin-verse and SNW Enterprise ornaments.

Can we get the crew miniaturized? Or, if nothing else, a crossover with Spin City because I want Captain Harriman to meet Stuart Bondeck!

It's a pretty good crop this year. They're also rerunning the Discovery and Enterprise Refit (which, I hadn't realized when it first came out, was a new sculpt and not just a repaint of the 1701-A they did years ago). I think the one I liked the most is the tiny refit, though. I can hang it on my DS9 with the tiny E-E, Voyager, and Defiant, and imagine the happy parallel world where they actually showed Connies in the fleet scenes in DS9.

That's a bit of a bummer to hear about the deflector. Compared to some of their earlier offerings like Voyager and the Defiant, Hallmark use to really go all-out detail wise.

I had a handful of Trek ornaments that I acquired here and there growing up. In the last few years, the collection has exploded thanks to flea market finds and Yard sale gold. Ebay helped here and there. As you can see from last years tree, things are starting to get crowded. But we will find a spot for the Enterprise B (although I wish they offered the battle damage variant on-line and not just in-person at SDCC and NYCC)

Ooooo... I should go snag the Refit, i somehow missed it back in 2019.

Unfortunately, the light up features on the 2019 refit ornament is nowhere near the 2005 Enterprise-A ornament. Basically, only the nacelles and deflector dish light up.

The light-up feature has been pretty extraneous ever since they moved away from corded ornaments. I realize there were external factors with the introduction of LED light-strings, but the ornaments were a lot better when they were always on (and not having to squeeze in a battery compartment probably didn't hurt).

Weird... Amazon still doesn't seem to have it yet. It's usually available there by October with previous releases.

Didn’t know they have the NSEA Protector this year as well! WOW! Will have to pick that up for sure. I always wish that in one of the new shows they will mention a Starship Protector with a Captain Taggart in command!

On a side note, I once had a boss named Taggart and one day I yelled, “Commander Taggart has saved us!” at work. And he was like, “What was that all about?” Needless to say, he was not a Sci-fi fan… LOL

I just picked up the Protector ornament and it has no lights whatsoever. I was surprised the box is even bigger than the one for the E-B! I guess the E-B is narrower than the Protector. But the color applications aren’t bad at all. I also picked up the mini Enterprise Refit ornament and according to the check out lady, that mini Enterprise ornament is flying off the shelves like hotcakes and not many left! Yikes! The paint apps on that mini ornament is okay, borderlining to bad. Not a lot of details, but at least the nacelles and deflectors are colored. I might put this ornament next to the Tomy 1/350 TMP Refit E someday in the future just for laughs.
