"Masters of the Universe" Film in Development (Again)

You're implying she can't do anything well except comedy?

Indeed. Actors tend to be versatile and over the decades, many comedy performers have surprised audiences by playing ‘straight’ roles. Jim Carey, Robin Williams and Adam Sandler spring immediately to mind.

No, i'm implying she would be miscast as Evil-Lyn, who is a sinister and intimidating villain, if it's a serious take. I like Brie, and I wouldn't want to limit her to purely comedic acting, but I can't see her as this specific character.

And I totally acknowledge that heel-turn casting can be effective, one of the greatest movie villains IMO is Henry Fonda's Frank in Once Upon a Time in the West. But I also don't think MotU is the property to do things like that with.

Michael Keaton started out doing comedy (Night Shift, Mr. Mom, Gung Ho). Then he started doing dramatic pieces like Clean and Sober.

When Tim Burton cast him in Batman, the fans were in an uproar ("Are they crazy? He's mostly done comedy! He'll ruin the part!")

To be fair, you could say the same thing about Transformers, and looked how that's worked out.

And G.I. Joe.

Yeah, but the G.I. Joe movies haven't been quite as successful as the Transformers.

They are trying to make one, but it's still in early stages. All we've gotten so far is the set up in the last Transformers movie's post credits scene.
