Danny Jansen will be behind the plate for Boston for the Blue Jays makeup game continuation Monday, making him the first player to play for both teams in one game.

I have a book called Incredibly Strange Sports Stories, which I don't have access to at the moment; however, there is one story in it that I do remember about two baseball players in the 1950s who were traded between teams during a double header. The two men simply switched uniforms between games and played their regular positions for the second game.

Damn, that's awesome. In fact, that should happen more often!

Bowden Francis lost a no-hitter, shutout and complete game in the ninth for the Blue Jays. Hopefully the bullpen doesn't blow the win.

Babe Ruth's jersey when he called his shot sold for $24.12 million. The previous record price for a sports collectible sold at action was a mint condition Mickey Mantle rookie card for $12.6 million in 2022. This same Ruth jersey previously sold for $940,000 in 2005 before it was determined to be the called shot jersey.

The scorecard is going to Cooperstown.

Former Tigers OF Chet Lemon, 69, has had 13 confirmed strokes (and probably many smaller ones) and been to the hospital over 300 times for a variety of health issues. He can't walk. He can't take care of himself. Most of his words are gibberish (aphasia). He has poor short-term memory but his long-term memory is believed to be intact. The root cause of all of his health issues is a rare blood disease that causes his bone marrow to make too many red blood cells. So he needs to be on thinners which leaves him in danger of internal bleeding.

My Chicago sCrUBS have scored 99 runs in their last 10 games. Only the 1930 team had a better result over 10 games (104 in 1930).

I still have no illusions that they'll squeak into a wild-card berth, but at least they look like a ML baseball team lately.

White Sox starting pitcher Chris Flexen has set a modern era record -- his team has lost 20 straight of his starts (Bob Groom and the Washington Nationals set the previous record of 19 in 1909). The day before, the White Sox also set the single-season record of getting swept in three-or-more game series at 20.

They are on pace to finish 36-126, which would be second worst all-time behind the Cleveland Spiders of 1899 who went 20-134. The 1962 Mets have the worst modern era record at 40-120.

Also, worst losing streaks in 2024:

21 games: White Sox
14 games: White Sox
10 games: White Sox (currently)

And even if you subtract those 45 losses, they would still have the worst winning percentage in baseball.

I forgot about that dumbass city ordinance in Chicago that won't let the Cubs play night games on Friday.

Guess some city councilmen still have a weed up their asses about Wrigley even having lights in the first place...

Edit: This is the first time that Edwin Diaz (Mets closer) has pitched in the same game with his brother Alexis, who's in the Reds bullpen.
