What storylines do you NOT want to see in Trek?

I don't want to see anymore prequels.
Go on to the future and give us new stories with new characters, new ships, new worlds, new species and other new elements.
It was working with TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise already.

So I assume you approve of Starfleet Academy? That meets your criteria.

Time Travel

I think, for me, it's not time travel stories per se. It's how time travel is usually handled. There has to be structure, rules, and consequences for it to work within the larger universe. And Star Trek tends to do a giant reset button with only slight "winking" changes to the timeline in the climax.

I think when you make time travel too "easy" to do, or set it up as an option that could materially remake the universe the characters inhabit, then you basically have it laying around in the background like a loaded gun where the audience thinks to themselves: "Well, why don't they use [technobabble X from episode 27] and time travel to fix this?"

I tend to wish Star Trek would just retcon into the idea established by Star Trek (2009). Basically, the version of time travel the MCU has with Avengers: Endgame where causality is preserved. That time travel can't change the past of the timeline and universe you inhabit, but can only push the time traveler into another universe where those events occurred differently because of the time travel.

And I will say that Discovery introduced something that I really like, which is the idea that time travel and travel across universes is "unnatural" and your body will want to return to its own time. I just think it makes things more interesting when there's limits, rules, and complications.

Alien Of The Week.

I don't mind two or three every season, depending on how many episodes a season. But I would like more in depth views on very unique alien cultures on a week to week basis over several seasons. Ridge on the nose, they do things differently than us every week is boring. Let's actually explore alien cultures more.

This wouldn't make a lot of sense for the more episodic shows. Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds would be weird if they could only visit 3 worlds per year.

Aliens of the week are more mission-focused - what you learn about them is enough to get the point across about which issue is being allegorized today. If you want to explore an "of the week" species, add them as a crew member/friend/frequent ally or adversary.

No more Badmirals please either that or put Starfleet under special measures for goodness sake

Or spoof it by having a meeting of "B(admirals) Incognito". "It has been three star weeks since I gave my last villainous order." (much applause from the circle of fellow admirals) "First of all, nobody is "bad" here, just "ethically unenlightened"." "Let's try to re-materialize those hostile impulses into something more benevolent."

Going to bring back the neuralizer device from "Dagger of the Mind"?
