Why does the discussion always turn to money for the actors? And why does it matter?

For all we know, they're doing it for cheap mostly to hang out with their friends. Or they're adjusting the film schedules to minimize their set times. Or it's a backend deal that still gets them crazy money with no need for a truck or train up front. Or or or. We have no idea and it shouldn't even matter.

The response should be negative because the decision is stupid and desperate.

Yes, because RDJ was the only actor in a field of near endless performers who could take on the role and has any sort of name recognition. It all about catering to the worst of MCU fanboy obsession with RDJ's Stark/Iron Man and desperately wanting him back, even if its not in the Iron Man role.

So the only question is how big are the trucks of money been driven to Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson's homes to get them to sign for Secret Wars?

It will be interesting if Evans returns in the Cap role, and how Disney will twist and squirm attempting to justify what one might assume would be the removal of Mackie as Cap, especially after the entire build up--selling Wilson's case--to represent the American superhero as a black American. Even having two Caps in the same universe would amount to the same perception of undervaluing a black Captain America, much like the vocal part of the MCU fanbase who gnash collective teeth at the idea of Cap being anyone other than a white male.

I'm a little shocked by all the negativity around Robert Downey Jr. coming back, I thought more people would be happy to have him back. At this point, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, so far most of the decisions like this that Feige and co. have made have ended up being good, so at this point I'm going to trust them to know what they're doing.
