Tawny Newsome and Justin Simien developing new live-action Trek series

Certainly wasn't expecting this at all. With an assumed lack of a Starfleet presence though? Seems a bit of a letdown to be honest. Here's hoping new Star Trek shows centered upon action, drama & adventure arises soon.

Star Trek has never been straight up drama to me.
Would be nice if they’d at least throw us a bone.

Maybe the downers will get their wish and Skydance will kill it
And why is simply not liking a show, or being unexcited about it, being a “downer”?

I must have missed the memo which decreed that everyone is required to like everything,

Odd premise, but Lower Decks didn't initially give me a good first impression, and I did end up liking it. The only thing that concerns me is that I don't see years worth of content coming from this idea, unless the show's premise changes season to season.

This would be the place to do it, I figure. Color me surprised if we don't see the Cerritos crew show up sometimes. Older; not necessarily wiser.
I’ve always wondered what a serious take (put away the flamethrowers, y’all) on the Cerritos crew would be like.

Sadly, with the apparent demise of Legacy, we’re not likely to ever get one. :(

Holy shit just make a show staring the Enterprise-G crew, or just keep making Lower Decks. What an absolute waste of time and resources. I thought the era of the Office/Parks and Rec rip off sitcoms was long over at this point.

I’ll watch this show IF Newsome is still playing Beckett Mariner.

Call me crazy, but I earnestly believe a Legacy-esque project will happen eventually. Entirely too much noise was made. Entirely from the fandom, yes. But they don't ignore this stuff.

The parameters are vastly different now than they were when the pre-SNW stuff happened, and not just because that was something TPTB were seriously looking at doing in quick order. There's just... there's a lot that's keeping that show, movie, whatever, from being made. But eventually, whether it's two years from now, ten years from now, whether it's a Seven of Nine show or it morphs into something else, whatever form it takes - there'll be something.
