There seems to be much debate about the worst season in all of Trek. So let's have at it now. ...

My pick(which I'm sure will win hands down) is Star Trek's 3rd season. From Spock's brain to Turnabout Intruder, just one big season of crap. The only thing going for it is it fulfilled the syndication requirment and allowed the show to be re-ran, which in turn created the big Trek mania in the 1970s.

I went with TNG season one because the endings of each episode were so abrupt. After watching it I imagined someone on the set shouting "2 minutes left. End it now. Hurry. Hurry!"

It's difficult to say which season was the worst, because each season as some episodes I really like. I voted for TNG Season one, because I think it hasn't aged as good as most of the others, and that always throws me off when I rewatch it.

I picked Enterprise S1.

I couldn't vote TOS S3 because there are still some good episodes mixed in, and the characters are still very watchable. Enterprise on the other hand was just a mediocre series with bad casting. They at least tried to make a story in S3 & S4, so it was a toss-up between S1 & S2. Actually come to think of it S2 is probably the weaker of the two, but I already voted (opps). Anyway, both are worthy in this poll.

TNG S1 is pretty bad, but at least the pieces are in place for something greater, so I can get some enjoyment from watching it. For some reason I can stomach a bad episode much more easily if it's from a series with a strong cast that I actually care about. Even average or better episodes of ENT didn't really get me too interested because the series on the whole was so disappointing.

Anyway, despite this poll's resistant absence of one canonical Trek show, TAS, which is seen by some as TOS's fourth season (myself included), I decided that it was tough enough to vote.

I don't really like VOY, and am somewhat so-so with ENT. But, I voted for ENT's second season, because its so blatantly dull, bland, uninteresting and downright bad. I could just as easily have voted on ENT's first season, but I could only choose one, so...

VOY as a whole is one bad Trek series, with a few marginably interesting episodes. Thats it.

TOS had the best first two seasons, but neither its third or fourth (animated) seasons were nearly as bad as some would have them be. They were, though, quite weaker than the standard, and thats that.

Now, both DS9 and TNG had weaker first seasons. TNG's first season is the weakest of the TOS-TNG-DS9 circle. But nevertheless, its still tons more interesting than, *cough* VOY and ENT.

So ENT, season 2, for me.

Star Trek, third season. If there are ten episodes worth holding onto in this season, then there are only ten. The rest of it is absolutely unwatchable. Spock's Brain, The Way to Eden, Turnabout Intruder--need I go on?

Voyager definitely was weak in it's final two years--seasons six and seven--but not as bad as the third season of Star Trek.

The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine both had slow starts, and good finishes that were not as good as they could have been, but still, on a whole, each season is enjoyable.

Enterprise had a good first season, I thought. Season two was just boring in a lot of places, but with a couple of exceptions, was never as bad as Star Trek's third season. Some of the second season of Enterprise--especially the first four episodes and the season finale--is downright great.

DS9's first season, though not as good as the rest, was still very good. Whenever I decide to watch the whole shows, I never sigh with DS9, because its beggining is not half bad.

Had to go with Enterprise season 2 - recylced, boring and insipid

on the other hand, I think the fourth season was one of the strongest of all the series. Too bad the second season ruined the series chances of going the full 7 years (IMO)

A pretty accurate view, I believe.

For me, it was a toss up between TNG S1 and Ent S2. I went with TNG S1 in the poll because whenever I think about that season, I just cannot get over the black cardboard on the rear bridge stations. But upon reading your comments, I remember the couple of decent episodes from that first season and hardly remember Ent S2 aside a general feeling of disgust. I'd revote if I had the chance.

TNG 1. I'd take Spock's Brain or BEM over some of the trash in that season. TNG 2 was a close second. I didn't think it would be fair of me to vote for anything from DS9, VOY or ENT, since I generally didn't enjoy those shows to begin with.

Anyway, despite this poll's resistant absence of one canonical Trek show, TAS ...

It may be part of your personal continuity, as you prefer ... but it's by no means canonical.

Don't get me wrong: I love certain episodes of TAS, and consider both "The Slaver Weapon" and "Yesteryear" two of the franchise's Top 40. [The latter makes it into my Top 25 and my personal continuity, actually.]

But The Powers That Be say an emphatic "Nay" to its canonical status (except for elements of "Yesteryear"), and that's their right.

Back on topic.

I give Season Three of TOS a narrow nod over Season One TNG and Season Two ENT. All three were horrendous ... but TNG and ENT (in its fourth season) got better. TOS got cancelled.

Irrational? Yes ... but that's my thought process on this subject.

I voted for TNG S2, which was really, really awful. But it was darn close to VOY S7, ENT S2, DS9 S1-3, and TOS S3.

All of the series had their share of bad episodes and bad seasons.

I voted ENT S2 due to the sheer mediocrity of it all. At least the failures in TNG S1 and TOS S3 were good for a laugh. Being boring is about the worst crime a TV show can commit, so I have to go with ENT S2 for the dishonor.
