I quite like 11:59 for at least doing something different and breaking the standard VOY ep mould. The rest of the nominees are all pretty bad.

I voted for Once Upon A Time, which I didn't even vote for in the initial season poll, but I saw it again a few days ago so its badness is fresh in my mind. :p

The Fight for me as well. It's a shame that they rarely gave Chakotay anything to do in the later seasons, and when they did the quality was pretty poor.

"The Fight"...the chaotic space part threw me for a loop! :wtf:? And maybe "Once Upon a Time". Other than that, year 5 wasn't too bad. :)

I have to go with 11:59. There was too much that had nothing to do with Voyager. I just couldn't bring myself to care about the romance or the bookshop.

11:59. There were so many more interesting things they could have done with a Janeway-centric story that this seemed like a waste.

I'm also a big fan of 11:59 (okay, so her infatuation towards Shannon O'Donnell was wedged in there a little awkwardly but I liked the story), but I'm more neutral towards Once Upon a Time (I thought it was interesting to see Neelix's reactions and justifications towards protecting Naomi but felt the execution wasn't the greatest).

Really?

For me it was the ep. about Neelix I was waiting to see. To finally see the tragic face behind the happy mask he wears. It was that ep. that made me finally understand why he clings to the Voyager crew so much and why he goes overboard to make them feel happy & safe. Plus, I think the ep. contains one of the best heart felt moments in the series, where Wildman is recording her "good-bye" to Niomi as well as Tuvok beautiful words to her about how Niomi will be in good hands on Voyager. For that moment alone, the ep. is worth it.

I liked 11:59 because Mulgrew got to play someone different from Janeway and show off her acting skills in a new setting. Plus, it was great to have a story that didn't involve the ship or crew. I really got tired of seeing the corridors of Voyager all the time & how few away missions you saw at that point.

I'd totally forgotten about that. Yeah, that bit was very, very good. Naomi grated on my nerves though. And having to sit though the Sesame Street of the 24th century, that was also irritating.

and move on to the final series poll.

Uh...there are seven seasons, not five!!!

That means there would be five* more polls, not one!!! ;)

(That is, two for each remaining season (6 and 7), plus a final poll).

Yes, that's right. What I meant to say was that the winner of this poll will represent season five when the final poll is conducted. Of course, we still have to choose the representatives from seasons six and seven before that poll starts.

I understand but if Trek is a family show, that's one ep. that also really appeals to the younger audience.

Much of Voyager was about pulling in a new audience into Trek that normally wouldn't find Trek cool. Many things involving Niomi and the Borg kids was done to capture a younger viewing audience. Many of the adult themed ideas in DS9 aren't things many young kids can grasp. I think Voyager was lighter and tried to be more in style for that reason.
