The Expanse: That was a wild ride

There have been rumors and implications that the show creators intend to adapt the final three books of the series at some point in the future, and consider the current status quo more of a “pause” than an “end.” But there’s not going to be news about it until there’s news, so who knows if such a continuation would start production in a year or in a decade.

They should continue it. The finale was a perfect set-up for a new story.

The Expanse was fantastic, it was a great story with nice twists and turns, and had an outstanding cast and interesting characters.
Anybody here read the comics that pick up after the finale?

The What?

I do see the series, is one of, if not my favorite sci-fi serie so far, personally i love than it seems geopolitically realist, i mean the initial relation with mars and how does that change during the series for instance, but is far from the only interaction i love from that but i want to avoid spoil too much for the people here who hasn't seen it yet, i 100% to anybody to see it fi you like sci-fi, or if you like GoT at his time (for the intrigues and the sorts, i know, GoT is medieval fantasy) , although GoT have some ... "logic failures" than are ... more than frustrating ... for being generous with it. Which is certainly not the case with The Expanse, is a series when the characters are not stupid and his actions actually make sence, but i digress.

Are you telling me there is a comic book than takes off after the finale?

What is his name? who made it? how does it call?

Just started season 6. I'm not as blown away with it as others, I've got more into it as it's gone on.

Bit of a shock at the end of S5, didn't know about the actor involved and what had gone on.

I'm glad that the story got finished, but the later seasons (5 and 6) always felt more empty to me despite the odds getting even higher.

Was it cause of COVID?

On a related note, the authors of The Expanse novels have a new book (and the first of a new trilogy) scheduled to be released on August 6th. Titled The Mercy of Gods, it looks to be the start of another epic series. As a huge fan of The Expanse books, I can't wait to read it.

I'm not sure if I'd say the story was finished since I'm pretty sure there were still some unresolved plot threads, and they only covered 6 of the 9 books.

Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham (AKA James S.A. Corey) helped directly plan the conclusion of the TV show so that it closed things out whilst at the same time allowing for the possibility of a future revival adapting the remaining novels.

That's true, but it's the same with anything. The point is you could not see anymore series and not feel disappointed, it did feel like an end.

They're also doing a kind of performance-art master-class thing on Patreon where they're writing a novel in public (well, publicly to their subscribers), putting their initial brainstorming, outlines, chapters, revisions, and so on all up as they write them.

So it really wasn't the end of the story if they purposefully left things open to later go on and adapt the rest of the books. So my point still stands.

I loved The Expanse, but I really wish the final season gave us an epilogue on the story happening on the Planet that didn't have to do with the rest of the season. They teased it in nearly each episode, yet the season ended and that was it. Where they planning on doing a spin off, or trying to get Expanse renewed? The season felt incomplete.
