Tales of the Tardis

A new episode of Tales of the TARDIS will drop just prior to the season finale. No word on what classic story will be focused on.

After 'The Legend of Ruby Sunday' it's obvious now what that classic story will be, and why the Fourth Doctor's era was skipped over earlier. Fifteen needs to get Ruby (and the non-Classic Who watching audience) up to speed fast on who this Egyptian dog-god guy is and why he's such an extreme threat.

According to Tony Lee, who I'm assuming still has some BBC connections from his spin-off writing days, the new TOTT will be put up on the Doctor Who YouTube channel for anyone to watch.
They should've done that from the get go, but I'm glad they're finally doing it this time.

Sadly, looks like crossed wires. They've put up a 11 minute recap for everybody. For TOTT, you'll have to look *cough* elsewhere.

Just saw the Pyramids episode. It's the briefest of them all. Nice to see Ruby and the Doctor worrying over the problem but their scenes are brief. Some nice effects in the Sarcophagus time tunnel.

Knew that would be changing as soon as they said new CGI.

And for people wanting to know how he went from an alien pretending to be a god, to a god, I think that's all the answer we're getting.

I thought maybe we would get new cgi head for Sutekh.

Here we go.

Hunh. A "full episode" that's just three and a half minutes long, and much of it is titles.

Using the "memory TARDIS" set doesn't make much sense in this context. It would've been more logical to shoot the frame scenes in the regular console room set.

Given that we last saw the regular TARDIS with a triumphant Sutekh draped around it, I don’t know that it’s more logical for the Doctor to be there than in the memory TARDIS at the point this frame sequence occurs…

Assuming the framing story is diagetic on any level, it could be like what the Doctor described in "Heaven Sent," imagining himself in his TARDIS, with his companion, talking about how they survived whatever impossible situation they were in as a way to figure out how he was going to survive the impossible situation they were in. This could all just be a dramatization of the Doctor mentally reviewing what happened the first time he met Sutekh, imagining himself telling the story to Ruby to focus his thoughts.

I hadn't watched "The Pyramids of Mars" before. Perhaps it was naïve of me, but I always assumed considerably more of it took place on Mars, perhaps within some sort of pyramid.

ETA:
Well, it was a good idea.

A nice little exchange between The Doctor and Ruby, but I'm not surprised it was short and sweet, considering it's set between episodes. I like David's idea of it taking place within The Doctor's mind over the span of a few seconds.

I loved the mini-tribute to Sarah Jane (and by extension, Lis Sladen). Again, I lament her absence at this time.

I also loved The Doctor calling out Marcus Scarman for exactly what he was doing: Looting and disturbing the dead.

I assume the episode takes place in the middle of Empire of Death, and once that airs it will be clear how and why the Doctor and Ruby wound up in a memory TARDIS. Given how clearly (IMO) this thing's set in media res, I'm surprised more people aren't automatically reaching that conclusion.

If RTD was inspired about this from Heaven Sent, that'd be amazing.

A fan mentioned how Fourteen might have awakened Sutekh, because of a side trip he took with Rose after the events of the Giggle, as he said.
