Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Given their last move is volume discounts, I think they might be aiming at flippers and retailers.
Yeah, I had the same thought. Although, those sellers would need to sell it less than the current not-moving retail prices, which makes even a 50% discount not particularly attractive.

EDIT: although, now that I think about it, I believe MR’s parent company owns physical remainder stores in the UK, so maybe they can dispose of everything left there

they tweeted out that there won’t be anymore sales/specials beyond what they have going on now.

I wouldn't rule out a last minute extreme fire sale.

They said their "Last Ever Star Trek Flash Drop" was on May 15th. Then they proceeded to have a "Surprise Restock" on May 23rd and a "Several Sought After Restocks In Our Final Ever Eaglemoss Star Trek Restock Drop" on June 12th.

Their marketing campaign revolves around creating a sense of urgency.

Warp core breach a lot sooner than you think!

I would think any last minute offer would need to be around 48hrs to go, otherwise there won’t be enough time to clear out much stock.

Actually, it seems their last move is 1/3rd-price blind-boxes of 50 and 100 ships each. Definitely going for flippers and retailers.
Yeah, that seemed like a weird move, I can’t imagine that it got much traction. I’d bet they didn’t have a huge close out sale because they don’t have the manpower to manage it.

Since it was the “end of an era” (lol), I ended up snagging three STO ships and a binder to get the 20% discount, plus they did mail out another 10% discount code that stacked.

First details about the Fanhome ships.

Titan A is first, followed by nu-Stargazer and SNW Farragut. 64.99$ US for non subscribers, 54.99$ for subscribers. They will be about the size of the mid-sized ships, so think the NX-01 refit.

I dunno. Not a fan of the bigger size or price point. But we’ll see, the first two ships are ones I really want. Going Titan over Enterprise G is interesting too.

Already cleared these with the wifey when they come out. A bit pricey, yes, but at least they think there's still interest in people wanting these.

I can't help but wonder if restarting at the Disco/Uni size point isn't the smartest thing. It feels like they're continuing down the same path that just proved unviable with Eaglemoss. I think the original Collection size class is more viable for a subscription service, then consider the most popular Federation ships as XLs

It depends on how extensive they plan on making the line. Smaller ships make more sense if you are planning on covering a lot of ground, doing alot of one-off ships like the Bajoran Solar Sailing vessel, the Vaudwar Attack Ship, the Federation Tug from SNW, etc… basically what Eaglemoss did.

But if they are just going to stick to “main” ships like The Titan-A, the Enterprises, the Cerritos, the Defiant, etc… then larger size is probably fine albeit expensive.

I would prefer the smaller ships just so they line up with the Eaglemoss stuff. But if they look worth the cost I will still pick up the ones I want.

I’m curious to see how the do the Titan/Enterprise G. Maybe the regular release will be the Titan and the EG will be the XL.

I would hope they go with some of the newer stuff first before we get legacy ships. The Intrepid from Picard, the Protostar, a screen accurate 1701-F, the Shrike, even a SNW accurate Discoprise, etc…

Yeah, I like these more than I like Disco S1/Picard S1 ships, but I'm still not going to get them at that size, and definitely not at that price. Even if I was interested, that price really puts them out of contention. Things very much aren't the same as they were in 2018 when they launched the larger collections, let alone 2013.

For one, in 2013, I didn't have nearly 300 little starships taking up room.

Aside from the already discussed issue of releasing ships nobody wanted at a scale and price nobody wanted in the later collections, I can't help but feel that the sheer number of new ships from newer Trek is offputting. It takes up to TNG season 3 and the Ambassador to get up to 8 Federation starship classes. Discovery hits that by the end of the pilot and keeps going. Picard has more Romulan ships in one season than the first thirty years put together. And I don't even want to start counting Disco Klingon ships...

I wonder if the advent of cheaper and easier CGI has meant that it's just too easy to make new ship types. It used to be that a new kind of ship was a bit of a big deal, and it was always interesting to see how they modified old models, or created new ships out of model kits and spare parts. We'd get to know everything. Now, it's just... so many new ships that it's no longer as interesting.

There's also the fact that nobody in charge really understands the old class/name/registry 'standards', but that's a whole other rant.

The release is for UK & USA only at this time, I do not have any further information on other country releases
